Synopsis

Five years have passed since the occurrence of the incident known as the "Human Annihilation Mission." In Japan, a novelist is dealing with writer's block after her friend has gone missing. In Hong Kong, three sisters, masters in the use of paper, run their own detective agency to solve cases that involve books. When these people are brought together, a bond greater than blood is formed - a bond that will be sorely tested by the evil powers intent on taking over the world.

 

Join Anita, Maggie, Michelle, and Nenene as they travel the globe in order to save the world from the evil mastermind, Mr. Carpenter! Of course, that's if they can find the time to put down the books they're reading...

Alright, so I haven't watched this one.
But I did see the 3 OVA episodes that came before it. (like 2 years before)
The OVA weren't that great to me. It should've had everything in it that I would normally like, but I just didn't. And that was my reason for never actually watching the TV series of it.

Mind you that was years ago so maybe I should give the series a try again... Though I'm more tempted to just read the light novel itself. (You can apparently buy the first volume for 1¢ on amazon.. what?)

Maybe when I'm done re-reading Clannad. (I've read the fan translation years ago and now reading the official release on Steam)

I enjoy this series, and still do whenever I re-watch it, not sure if I find the OVA or the TV series better but either way both are great.

The characters are fun, no fanservice in our faces and I like how a piece of paper can be so devastating.

I take issue with that. Paper cuts are devastating.

But seriously. They have telekinetic powers. What makes paper suck as a weapon is it's fragility in that it is easily bent and hard to keep a straight edge on.

Their psychic powers basically makes that null-n-void. Like... anything can be devastating if you can control it with your mind like they do. Petals from a flower; Air; Cardboard; wtv.

If the structure of an object is reinforced by intangible forces (i.e. you can't prevent, remove, or destruct their powers reinforcing the paper), the object can become a devastating weapon. Doesn't matter what the object is.

A 1-atom thick gold sheet, if dropped, could cut completely through your body. The thing preventing it from doing so is that it would tear apart under it's own weight and probably be blown away by air.

Same principle, but the two things keeping paper from doing that are accounted for with their powas.

... I mean. I get it. Anime super powas would've been an apt explanation, but part of the fun is considering how the powas interact with our world when their anime world looks the same as ours in all ways but the super powas.
