Cloning an m.2 SATA III SSD to another m.2 SATA III SSD
DudeWazap replied to DudeWazap's topic in Storage Devices
Ah okay, thank you! I think I will be getting this one that way I can put my smaller one i take out of the laptop in here and just use it as a large external storage. https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-SM2NGFFMBU33-M-2-SATA-Enclosure/dp/B00T8F298Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1549562945&sr=8-3&keywords=external+m.2 -
Cloning an m.2 SATA III SSD to another m.2 SATA III SSD
DudeWazap replied to DudeWazap's topic in Storage Devices
Okay, so I can use one of these and when i plug it in Samsung's cloning software should detect it fine and let me clone everything? I just wanted to make sure before I buy it. -
I am looking to upgrade the 256GB m.2 ssd inside of my HP Spectre X360-4003dx laptop. It only has 1 m.2 slot so I wanted to see if there was a way to clone the existing ssd to a new 1TB Samsung m.2 ssd. Is there an external enclosure or adapter I need to buy to plug it in through USB 3 and clone it that way then just open the laptop and swap them out?

Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 VS Cooler Master Master AirMaker 8
DudeWazap replied to DudeWazap's topic in Air Cooling
Oh okay i see what you mean now. Well to till you the truth I mainly want to change out the cooler because I want to keep her temps a bit lower and the silent wings will also be quieter than the SP fans based on other videos I've seen. also the 212 EVO is a good value cooler but it doesn't fit the all black theme with some red accents that she currently has and the Dark Rock seemed like a good fit for this purpose. the Master air Maker 8 seemed pretty pricey and Just wanted to know if their was a big difference or not. But, now I'm going to just order the Dark Rock 4. I spent alot of time making her build look very clean and organized to help with air flow as well as stay a certain color theme. So that's why I stayed with those two cooler choices. -

Thanks If i don't go with the Dark rock pro 4 I will just go with the regular Dark Rock 4. The higher end you go with a cooler the lower it gets the temps so, I'm not sure what you're referring to there. -

I have 2 Corsair SP120s on it rightnow in push pull. how is a $20 cooler overkill for it? -

DudeWazap replied to DudeWazap's topic in Air Cooling
Thank you! And yes it is overkill but I want to have it so when i upgrade her rig later 9th or 10th gen CPU. All the stuff I get for my mom is overkill because she my mom bro. haha It is a Define R5 tempered glass clase with 5 PWM fans all running very low RPM (can't remember the number rightnow) and a GTX 780 DCUII Yeah i figured but the cooler is so ugly though. and I have her build all red with black. -

The 212 EVO is cooling it find but I want to turn down all her fans to the lowest possible and have an overkill air cooler to keep the temps down and not have to worry about noise. I do agree it is a a bit over kill but, its for my mom and price isn't an issue for stuff I buy for her. I put my old DCUII 780 in there just because. haha -

I'm going to upgrade my moms air cooler from the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO she has now cooling her i5-4460. I'm going for best air cooling performance but at the same time being as quiet as possible. Which one of these 2 coolers would cool the best while staying the quietest? I don't want to put a liquid cooler on it because I don't want to worry about leaks or the pump dying on her. Cooler Master uses vapor chambers so I thought it would cool better but its hard to find videos of the Dark Rock 3 or 4 being compared to the air Maker 8.- 15 replies

I'll bite the bullet and turn it off tonight when I play some more Tomb Raider or Overwatch.
-
Oh okay that makes alot more sense to me now. haha. well If that's the case then upgrading my monitor this year and then doing a CPU, Motherboard, RAM upgrade next year might be better. Just because, I know for a fact I will be upset that I hae a 6 core CPU and a few months later 8 core CPU's release that have a huge performance gain. To be fair I only noticed the drop when I had FPS counter on the other day while i was overclocking my GPU and seeing how much ssaa x4 effected my performance. I don;t like playing with Vsync off since the screen tearing really annoys me alot.
-
twice the performance is what I like to hear. and that's mainly for gaming so for other task it should be a good improvement as well. Thanks for that info. Is Ice lake the next gen CPU or is it Canon Lake? I'm confused now. i was thinking Canon lake would be this year and would be their first 10nm chip and 8core.
-
Oh okay I see, Thanks for that info. I don't only game though. I did put that I do alot of 4k video editing/rendering the more cores would help me. Also I would be getting the X or K versions since i do like overclocking my stuff. but I think for now I will stick with what I have and wait for 9th gen Intel chips. I don't pan on switching to AMD rightnow.
-
Wow, I remember paying about $250 for my Maximus vi Formula back then. The prices for everything is higher these days it seems. And yes I mean that motherboard. If not I can also get the Hero but the formula boards looks so nice. ha Also don't I loose some features when running freesync with Nvidia cards?
-
Yeah I'm leaning more towards that as well. If the 9th gen chips really will be 8 core then I think i'll wait so I can get the 2 extra cores and see a bigger performance gain. My monitor is only 60Hz but I do plan on getting a GSync monitor when Asus finally releases that GSync IPS 1440p monitor they announced last year. I know I can get a Ryzen chip rigtnow if I want 8 cores but Intel still beats them in gaming which is what I do most. Plus I really love Asus ROG Formula boards which are only for Intel.
