Synopsis

After a tragic accident during their childhood, Jinta and his group of friends split apart and live separate lives. Now in high school, the group is drawn together once more by an unknown force. Ano Hana, short for Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai (We Still Don’t Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day), is a drama and slice of life anime series following the lives of these students and the friendship they once had, as they re-discover guilt, anger, friendship, happiness, and so much more.
 
Will Jinta Yadomi, Tetsudou Hisakawa, Naruko Anjou, Matsuyuki Atsumu and Chiriko Tsurumi find the strength to repair broken bonds?

I'm with you on that, though I did try to actually watch it once and gave up after 2 episodes. I'm done with these type of tearjerker drama anime. I get the appeal, but they ain't for me anymore.

So was I back when I watched it, but it's one of the rare ones that I could still enjoy because it's honest about its motivations and treats its characters with enough respect that I didn't have to worry about shocking twists and such marring a straightforward cryfest.

To be honest I've never really cried over an anime as far as I can remember, but this one came closer than anyone else.  but sadly it's the kind of anime I can really only recommend to people interested in the genre or can relate to the show in particular...  unlike say Steins' Gate where I feel like I can suggest the show to anyone and they'll atleast like part of the show...  that's it's only real down fall personally I don't really like tear jerkers (as I don't tend to be affected by emotional things being very emotionally distant) but this one was good in my opinion but not for everyone even thought it was good.
