10 Years of the LTT Forum

colonel_mortis

I've only been active on the forums for about a year, but it's quickly become one of my favorite places to waste spend time online. Reminds me of the early-2000's phpbb glory days!

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

You know, i did not need to be aware that LTT forums is 10 years old now...

My account dates from june that year but i've been lurking the forum since it began, first days of the forum were such a mess, i remember the forum was down at least once a day in the beginning, that being said it's been fun all the time, now days i just lurk a couple times after work.

Ready to lurk for 10 more years and beyond.

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

i use to have the second best link in the world here, but it died ;_; its a 404 now but it will always be here

10 years aye.
Time flies when your watching some random bloke drop things on camera.
It's a fun forum indeed.

Any chance of some limited edition funky badges for the forum we could buy, the funds could be donated to a charity. @colonel_mortis @LinusTech

10 years…

10 YEARS, wow!

That's amazing, congratulations and thanks to everyone involved in the Forum and it's upkeep and the people who kept it alive all these years.

LTT was basically my primary education in electronics throughout my life. I used to just sit on the LTT forum in class all day and answer questions lmao

I think the real heros are people like @Lays @MageTank They personally spent a shit load of time teaching me hyper specifics of overclocking. To think I was just a teenager at the time and these people were dedicating hours to provide screenshots, replies, and just rich knowledge you only get from doing the shit yourself is absolutely invaluable and is a great show as of what a forum provides to a community.

Thank you LTT for keeping the forum up all these years and thanks to the core members who still help others day after day for nothing other than shared passions.

Come on, you're making me all teary eyed. It's funny that you mentioned starting this when you were still a teenager. I was barely a teenager when I first joined OCN back in the day and managed to somehow get people to answer my dumb questions and advise me against some of my (at the time) very genius plans for destroying hardware. I think if you get your start on a forum, it's only fair that you pay in what you got out of it.

My move to this community roughly 8 years ago was mostly due to the atmosphere of the forum itself. I'll be honest with you, I didn't really find myself as a member of the LTT audience per se. Their content was entertaining but didn't exactly appeal to me specifically, but I stumbled on the forum randomly while searching for answers to a problem I had and ended up liking the vibe of the people here. Other forums would lock threads or ban users for engaging in arguments or disagreements but that kind of thing was encouraged here, as long as you weren't outright name calling or making new users feel stupid for being a novice. I like that, not only because it fosters growth for new people, but that it also ensures they don't join a forum full of misinformation or an echo chamber where only one opinion is right. I see people argue on this forum all the time when they have differences of opinions, but they still end up agreeing with each other on other topics which means they never take it personally. Gotta love a community like that.

I would prefer not to take away a prize from someone who uses the forum more than I do. So please take my name out of the running.

I've only been here for 6 years or so, but I am massively proud of the folding community and how we have grown together. So if you fold for TeamLTT Thank you so much, and if you would like to join our sub-community and help solve some of the biggest questions in medical research then come over to the folding community board.

Remember when Linus dropped from a cardboard box and unwrapped himself as a gift while whistling? I do. The RC truck?
It is hard to believe that 10 years have passed since then, but congrats to the forum, especially for the administrators, moderators and Linus of course.

Congratulations to the Forum Staff, LMG, Floatplane, Creator Wearhouse and everyone else involved for this amazing Milestone ! You guys are really cool and inspiring. Here's to another 10 years of this amazing ride and beyond.

Happy Birthday LTT Forum ! I wish you a crash and bug free Birthday.

Only thanks to my Brother have I come across the LTT YouTube Channel and Forum back in 2013. I was hooked right away so I subscribed immediately, this was shortly after creating my first Google account lol.

Specifically he showed me this as my first ever LTT video:

Joined the Forum on July 8th 2016 during my Summer school Holidays after a lot of contemplating because I was really shy back then. I never thought back then that I now wanna be part of all of this for my whole life as a Tech Enthusiast. I'll try this year to be more active again just like I was when I first joined.

In 2020 I bought for the first time from LTTStore.com and I immediately fell in love with the quality of the Merch. The Majority of my Wardrobe consists of LTT and other YouTubers and Tech Companies Merch now. Absolutely love my LTT Backpack, just now waiting for the new Carabiner Zippers, luckily mine haven't broken yet. LTT Water bottle is the best Water bottle I've ever used. I have 3 of them now lol. Can't wait for my 64oz Monster to arrive along side the Screwdriver and all the other items I've purchased late last year.

And I'm happy to spend more money on LTTStore.com in the future.

In 2021 I subscribed to the 4K LTT tier on Floatplane. Especially love the exclusive content and the Streaming quality is amazing. Good job @Slickand Team.

And Congratulations to our Fellow Forum Users who will win a Gold tier Subscription.

@LinusTechI'm proud of what you have created.

Yes, I've become a Fanboy. Haters gonna Hate.

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

Indeed, huge shoutout to @Glenwing. The first draft of this post just had a screenshot of IPB 3.x, which we switched to in May 2013, and a comment lamenting my inability to find any screenshots from vBulletin, but then Glenwing pulled this out.
