The great beast mk2

Hey peeps my base to start with is ASRock z790 sonic in a Corsair 400d case with 1tb firecuda nvme.

My main issue is cpu and cooling I was gunna go with the 14900ks because yeah flex 😂 and why not but with recent reports of issues it's put me off.

Well as iv recently joined the forum I thought why not you guys involved.

Ask everyone opinions are what options are out there?

14900ks is probably only fun if you have a subzero cooling system or you like ram oc (ddr5 8400+) which i have my doubts wether that board can even do 8000+

14700k is what id reccomend and a good aio like the liquid freezer iii or if you like lcd aios theres the deepcool mistique at a reasonable price and probs perform pretty well if their lt aios are anything to go by

budget?

country?

any other parts needed?

the fact that you are even considering the 14900ks tells me you probably have a budget thatll fit at the very least a 4090

7200 is the rated speed for the board. I live in the UK the budget is 2000. I have 3050 that I'll use temporarily than upgrade GPU wants iv got working system.

rated speed is garbage

if it did matter then why the hell am i able to do over 150% my mobos (x58a ud3r) rated max speed (2200) and over 300% the cpus (w3503) rated max speed (1066), best i can do stable is 2900 with 2 sticks, 3rd channel flakes out at >2800 and bloomfield cant run triple channel with 1:1 uncore (uncore needs to be +3 over ram multi)

this is an extreme example but newer boards are usually still able to do quite abit over their max rated speed so i wouldnt be surprised to see that board hitting 8000+ just that it may start getting close to the stable limit making oc abit more painful then theres also the imc to consider (id expect ks chips to be capable of hitting 8400-8800)

for 2000£ a 14700k and a 4080s should easily fit in budget
