Well, I've decided it's about time I leave the forum, and in turn that means I won't be around this thread anymore. As someone who had a helping hand in making this thread ( :P), and who's been here since @techswede made it almost a year ago (less than one more week until the one year anniversary!), it's been crazy seeing this thing grow. It's pretty cool seeing how cars can pull so many different people together, and especially on a forum dedicated to computers. I don't wanna write a super long goodbye letter/sob story thing or whatever, so I'll leave it at that. I had fun talking to you all about cars. As a final parting gift, here are some for all of you. Sorry if I didn't get everyone, it's been a while since I've been really into this thread, and it's still growing, so there are a few new faces I don't really know..

This forum would be a lot more boring without this thread. Thanks for it. :)

yeah lol... 1ZZ-FE 125hp/125ft-lbs torque and here are the gear ratios:

1st: 3.643:1

2nd: 2.008:1

3rd: 1.296:1

4th: 0.892:1

Final: 2.655

Super LOOOOONG. You would need like 300 hp to have fun with that gearing lol.. But that would blow up the transmission lel (probably, I could be wrong).

Not to mention it had 165K miles at the time of the video. Well taken care of and literally outputting as much as it possibly can since I've done everything under the sun to give it the best chance, but still im sure it's missing at least a couple horses.

If your curious about my tires, Im running 185/65R14 General Altimax RT43's pahahaha. aka the worst tire for this I think anyone has tried. Maybe not.

@vinyldash303 there's your gearing lol

yeah I guess the wheelspin doesnt mean much, perhaps that is why no one told me anything about it while I was there. But I'll try to be more gentle so as not to destroy the tires too much anyway. I also think my tire pressure was a little too high that day. Going to try something a bit lower next time. But I doubt that will make too much of a difference. I have till March (maybe even April if I decide to just go with my friend in the mustang again) to do whatever so I guess ill see. Don't want to invest too much into the car like I said. It was really only a cheap car for me to daily and learn how to drive with lol, next time ill get something better. At the least a manual transmission with shorter gearing...

So I know you said you don't wanna spend money on this car, but if you can swing it I'd recommend wheels/tires. While tires are a consumable, wheels typically have great resale value (or you might be able to use them on your next car too), especially if you buy used in the first place. And you don't have to go with anything crazy sticky either, mainly something with a lower profile so you don't get as much tire roll over. In fact I wouldn't recommend really sticky for a new driver, it masks mistakes and slows down your learning curve. I'm willing to bet a lot of your understeer is coming from tire roll over since your sidewall is so tall.

well if the motor isn't as strong and I drive it like I drive my car, it will likely be the first to blow up. That is what turns me away from it.

For most people it's probably fine, but I put quite a bit of demand on my cars.

I mean im at redline minimum twice a week. Sometimes multiple times a day every day. Don't hold it there but still.. that is killer on rods lol

Hahaha, twice a week??? For me it's like minimum twice every time I drive... Doesn't even matter what I'm driving... Except if the car is really slow and takes forever to get to redline... I get bored a give up

I got distracted last night after looking at the ratios and found out these cars have a common issue with blowing up clutches. Part of me thinks its the stock motor mounts that makes people ride the clutch too much. I only had my stock motor mount for like 4.5k miles. Its easy to ride the clutch too much with the stock mounts otherwise the start will be really jerky.

Of course I take that with a grain of salt... because everybody that said they blew up a clutch always had to have the addendum of "I've been driving manual for 50 years!" and proceeded to list off every manual car they've owned and how they were on OEM clutches for 175k miles each. Lots of posters on mazda forums say its a really difficult car to drive. This is my first manual and I'd agree... its easy to give it too much gas and have it "jump" at a start.

However maybe its a sign to trade up to a non ford mazda.

All its going to do is get you ready for more mods and maybe increase throttle response a tad. Have you done the throttle blade mod yet? Also how long has it been sense you've done plugs and cap/rotor?

The throttle blade mod would make a LOT bigger difference than a CAI. I used to be a big fan of CAI's and K&N filters. Back in school my instructor said they kill engines and I thought he was crazy... until I saw some in the trade. They let gritty pieces of dirt through. Seen some that you pull off the intake tube and run your finger around it and its like oily sand in there. All that crap going into your engine...

Depends on the fitment for the intake. We've got two with zero problems as far as I'm aware of. They are due for a cleaning so I might do that today too..

Just oil it every 10k. That helps, but it still lets too much dirt through.

Yup. That's why I don't have one :P I have done the filter though. The one Spectre Pref. has for these trucks is pretty good and fits real nice. Throttle blade was also freaking amazing once I cleaned the throttle body. Just waiting for the injectors to go and I'll do the CPFI to MPFI upgrade. Then get a tune.

Did you cut the throttle blade like other s10 guys have done? Now I'm confused.

My dad went to a MPFI system in his s10 after he did headgaskets. No problems yet.

Yeah I did. Best thing I've done yet. Not gonna descreen the MAF though.

I wouldn't until you get a tune. Those things are programmed to take into account the screen.

More race cars! Maybe we can play Project Cars or something together sometime.

Take care y'all. PM me if you wanna exchange contacts or whatever. Have fun and drive safe. And no more Wagon or Stance Wars, please.. We're all car people. Respect other's opinions. And be nicer to Terry, he can be okay sometimes :D Anyways, I'm rambling now. Peace.

Sad to see you go man, but best of luck with whatever your future endeavors take you! PM`d.

Photos are a re-post from Speedhunters lol

But oh man it's such an awesome concept... take a proven endurance motor for marine usage, use it at less than it's usual duty cycle, and get boat loads (ha) of reliable power. The carbon bodywork is pretty amazing as well.

Just oil it every 10k. That helps, but it still lets too much dirt through.

Helps I'm in a desert then. /s I'll check it later when I'm not lazy.

Hahaha, twice a week??? For me it's like minimum twice every time I drive... Doesn't even matter what I'm driving... Except if the car is really slow and takes forever to get to redline... I get bored a give up

Problem I have with wheels is that it's hard to find decent, or well "neutral" looking one's that don't attract too much attention and are also lightweight. I do agree though, I've needed new wheels from the start lol, those steelies aren't good for anything and they are a little bent. Maybe I should just find a place that sells used rims, if such a place even exists here. Most people around here when they get rims, they are putting gigantic one's on trucks or they are putting big shiny one's on their donk lol.. I just want something simple and clean and lightweight if I were to get something. Hard to choose your rims when you're looking for used one's though I guess. But if anyone has any suggestions... fire away

I said minimum twice a week... there was that one week when I sort of used my economy car as an economy car for once. lol These days I will pretty much be redlining it all the time. Does take forever to get there though lol, but I do that on most straight highway on-ramps of which by the end of it im only doing the speed limit xD
