Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Well, I've decided it's about time I leave the forum, and in turn that means I won't be around this thread anymore. As someone who had a helping hand in making this thread ( :P), and who's been here since @techswede made it almost a year ago (less than one more week until the one year anniversary!), it's been crazy seeing this thing grow. It's pretty cool seeing how cars can pull so many different people together, and especially on a forum dedicated to computers. I don't wanna write a super long goodbye letter/sob story thing or whatever, so I'll leave it at that. I had fun talking to you all about cars. As a final parting gift, here are some for all of you. Sorry if I didn't get everyone, it's been a while since I've been really into this thread, and it's still growing, so there are a few new faces I don't really know..

techswede

This forum would be a lot more boring without this thread. Thanks for it. :)

Problem I have with wheels is that it's hard to find decent, or well "neutral" looking one's that don't attract too much attention and are also lightweight. I do agree though, I've needed new wheels from the start lol, those steelies aren't good for anything and they are a little bent. Maybe I should just find a place that sells used rims, if such a place even exists here. Most people around here when they get rims, they are putting gigantic one's on trucks or they are putting big shiny one's on their donk lol.. I just want something simple and clean and lightweight if I were to get something. Hard to choose your rims when you're looking for used one's though I guess. But if anyone has any suggestions... fire away

I said minimum twice a week... there was that one week when I sort of used my economy car as an economy car for once. lol These days I will pretty much be redlining it all the time. Does take forever to get there though lol, but I do that on most straight highway on-ramps of which by the end of it im only doing the speed limit xD

I'm too chicken to redline the tundra just because the 2uz sounds like it's going to blow up if it gets over 4k, and I'm also trying to baby the tranny ever since the whole radiator incident. :(

Call me a coward if you want, but I dont think I have ever taken any of my cars all the way to redline. Ever. I dont really have a burning need to run the engine to 10/10ths, I shift at least 1k RPM early during spirited driving.

My motorcycles have seen redline occasionally, but I do not make a habit of it.

EDIT: Small lie I guess, the Mustang has seen redline during dyno runs; but never on the street.

All its going to do is get you ready for more mods and maybe increase throttle response a tad. Have you done the throttle blade mod yet? Also how long has it been sense you've done plugs and cap/rotor?

throttle blade mod????? Whats that haha

And No idea haha I should probably do that

The throttle blade mod would make a LOT bigger difference than a CAI. I used to be a big fan of CAI's and K&N filters. Back in school my instructor said they kill engines and I thought he was crazy... until I saw some in the trade. They let gritty pieces of dirt through. Seen some that you pull off the intake tube and run your finger around it and its like oily sand in there. All that crap going into your engine...

Well I guess I'll be returning it then I don't need my engine all goofed up

Photos are a re-post from Speedhunters lol

But oh man it's such an awesome concept... take a proven endurance motor for marine usage, use it at less than it's usual duty cycle, and get boat loads (ha) of reliable power. The carbon bodywork is pretty amazing as well.

I don't think i've been on speedhunters a single time so they were new to me  :P

yes yes

I'd do unspeakable things for that car

I can get the two front ones on the drivers side out no problem, but getting them back in is impossible. Neither me nor my friend who's about 40 pounds heavier with muscle can get the damn thing in. You can smell a lot of gas turning the car on.

In other news, the air filter is still clean which surprises me with all the dust here. And here's some pictures of a spark plug with around 140,000 miles on it. I can't read these soo.. Guru people, explain.

it's brown, so fuel/air mixture is about right, at least, for dirt bikes and ATVs.

hmm. I just realized that we have never changed the spark plugs on the Tundra. will it increase fuel economy if they haven't been changes in at least 50k miles or more? I need a way to convince my dad to buy them because I don't want to shell out the money, and it's his vehicle, even if it's my baby.
