Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Currently looking at getting either a 2013 Audi Q5, 2013 Audi allroad, 2012 Lincoln MKX...or perhaps a similar vintage Subaru Outback but they're not as...nice.

Eh, the only overly expensive car is the Cayman, and they're not even that expensive.

2016 Focus ST. Current at 25050 miles, bought in 2016 with 8k miles on it.

Have you had many problems with it? Every friend I have with a Focus has nothing but bad things to say about it.

I have a 2005 escape with 112k miles on it.  It burns oil and is way louder than it should be but the brakes work and it still drives so meh.  I'll fix it when I have my own garage.

My other car is a 2018 Kona at 11k km, a few cosmetic changes only as it's still under warranty.

Currently awaiting my new 2004 forester STi from Japan, importable in July, bought and paid for already

I can't wait for 2023 when a lot of the really nice cars become eligible for import ?

Buying expensive cars is easy in america houses are like 150k in anywhere that's not a metropolis which leaves huge room on the table for cars.

You couldn't buy a shack for $150K where I live. Even a "fixer up" type garbage house tends to be over $300K.

I'm speaking from the ST hatchback experience here. The SE (regular car) might vary slightly.

Engine has been solid. People mod these things like crazy without doing anything to the rods yet and they're able to handle most of the power. In a stock application, the only real complaint was wheel hop in the 2013-2014 models which used a very weak motor mount which allowed too much flex.

I also am having issues with the transmission's 2nd gear, which seems to be a relatively known issue with the 6 speed manual transmission. I actually just called into a local transmission shop to have it looked at. Note that I only had 23k miles on it when it started showing the symptoms, while @Real_PhillBert has had his for 71k miles with no issues.

2006 Peugeot 407 Sport, with 2l Turbo-diesel. 100kW 340nm. Done around 224,000km. Runs like new, no scratches or dents, I know what I have.

Have fitted RockFord Fosgate speakers and a Soundstream amplifier to power them. More in that department to come I think.

lovely reliable Peugeot, will probably keep it till it’s toast (because it’s too low value to sell)

Yeah but a lot of people can't afford a $150k house and an expensive car. Most people, especially with a family, will choose a $150k mortgage over a $70-100k car payment.

Oh, I know. I was just saying that just because $150k homes in America are pretty common doesn't mean everyone can get an expensive car as well.

But you are right as well.

A 2001 Mazda protege with 97946 miles on it. I crashed it into a wall and it also scraped a wall so that's what the damage is on the front. While it may not look like it, it does have two twelve inch subwoofers and a full audio set up. She shakes! She also need a new timing belt, rear main seal, valve cover gasket and new coolant. Lol.

You like a VQ? The 37 is better than the 35 but only just, and that's not saying much.

Surprisingly, my uncommon opinion is that the VQ37 and J35 are probably the only V6s i could stand. VQ35 can be too raspy for me, and everything else just seems kinda bad sounding imo, i think overall v6s don't sound that good.
