the regular name brands like a segate barracuda or western digital caviar blue should be fine. If you have the extra money you can pick up a 1tb SSD but an HDD will be fine.

Assistance in Going College Build
mxk replied to LowQualityBuilds's topic in New Builds and Planning
This looks nice overall. The only things I'm initially noticing is the cooler and the PSU. Your PC won't need 750w but if thats the only wattage in stock for a smaller PSU then it makes more sense. For the cooler, it's a little overkill for a 3600 but it'll definitely be quiet if thats what you want. You can save some money by getting a different cooler. -
i somehow thought i saw an hdd in there after you replied so we both misread its all good
-
Yeah they can go on the HDD just fine. Maybe you might load into a csgo map 1 second slower but thats the only difference you would notice. The actual game's speed is up to your cpu and cpu unless your HDD is old, broken, and corrupted. Thats when drives start slowing the whole computer down.

aha cant read im pretty cool

consider getting some more storage (like a 1tb HDD or SSD), unless you're going to be able to manage with 500gb (more like 400gb after windows is installed).

is there a budget you're trying to stay in?
-
only thing id add is maybe another ssd or an hdd, some people eat up storage

consider a different power supply. power supplies are important and even though the bad ones don't usually explode or die in the long run its better to play it safe and get a nice power supply. check out the power supply tier list, it should be pinned in the power supply sub forum. go for anything above B+ tier thats below 650w. high wattage isn't needed.

It's my IP just for my friends

Hi forums, I've been having issues with setting up a terraria server from my old computer. I'm using the built in terraria server hosting (not the steam connections) and I finally was able to get all my friends to connect with my IP, but I can't connect from my main gaming computer. My brother, who is on wifi was able to connect too. I was able to connect from the server pc with the localhost ip (127.0.0.1) but I just can't connect from my own PC. Both the server and my main PC are connected into the same router. I think it might be something with my firewall but I have no idea since I'm a noo

My dad was thinking that but I know those can be expensive. I also just wasn't sure because we have access to the enterprise version of Disk Drill.

I wasn't able to get past the users folders but there are other parts I could navigate through.

Hi, I was trying to recover some family photos from my dad's old WD Green that's 9+ years old but this drive is veeeery slow. I was able to get some stuff off of it that my parents wanted but it took a bit to load. The drive just wouldn't load the windows Users folders, which is what my dad wanted to open because of all the family photos. My brother has some program called Disk Drill through his work and I was wondering if that or something else would be any help to get our old family photos. If anyone can help it would be super appreciated because of the memories on t

I think it is, but I'm going to head over to his house soon to look at everything since he isn't sure what to do -
Hi, I just built my friend's PC with an Asus Prime X470-Pro and it won't let him start his computer because of a "CPU Fan Error". I looked into it and disabled the monitoring of the cooler to try and stop the issue and it worked for a week or so. Now though, he's telling me that its giving the same issue that it did when we initially built and the old fix isn't working anymore. Does anyone know how to possibly fix this?

Hi, I don't really know much about routers and my parents are wanting to get a new one for our house since the current one from frontier blows. They're looking for - good range (house is ~2,200 square feet) - dual band - Not much more than $200 If anyone can help me find a new router that would be appreciated!

not enough information, please provide more based on what you're saying, the card is done for or maybe something is wrong with your monitor

Can't run i7 8750H at full speed
mxk replied to Mysteryguy2107's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I'm pretty sure that it's just going to throttle back because it's a laptop. It'll drop to 1.6ghz if that means keeping the laptop cool. You can make sure that your laptop is on high performance for it's power plan but I think that's all you can really do besides every other measure that you've taken. Is it really impacting performance? -
yeah hopefully, I had to learn everything myself researching my PC. yeah I was going to get an app like that or that exact app, I looked into it with him last night. I was going through and getting the drivers for his motherboard last night and i don't think I got to installing the drivers for the chipset but I'll make sure I do that next time I'm able to help. I honestly think it might be the RAM or something with the drive we installed. He bought two samsung 860 drives and we plugged the second mass storage one in much later because I had to get another
