I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Ever heard of an ecoboost? All the mid to top tier ecoboosts are V6s. They're not going anywhere. One can only hope though that the i6 will make a return. That's an even longer shot than saying the V8 will still be around in 20 years, lol.

I feel sorry for your ears, you must have endured some kind of trauma when you were young.

but those v6s are starting to take the place of the v8s that once ruled king. plus turbo 4s are replacing the n/a v6s in some applications too. and as much as i want the i6 to make a proper return, it's highly unlikely due to costs and packaging constraints. though i wouldn't mind having the hood of the car a foot or so longer to accommodate a long motor.

oh no i absolutely hate straight piped vqs, they sound like cancer (my friend drives a straight piped g35 to work every day and annoys the shit out of me revving to 7k), but with a proper exhaust setup, they sound real nice.

This just in, a plain old long block is more expensive than a long block plus forced induction.

Got the truck back today, with steering and brakes lol. Honestly feels better than ever. No surprise though, considering how bad the leak was. Now to clean up the mess underneath and do some body work.

What V8s are dieing out? Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, Silverado, Tundra, Ram, (F150?), Tahoe, Suburban, all still either come with, or have the option for a V8. Not to mention the Challenger/Charger. A two and 4 door respectivly. Lets also mention the Hellcat. And the Demon.

Were the V8 Lexus sedans really all that wonderful? The Chevy SS sedan was so fucking awesome that nobody bought them.

Ford is bringing the falcon aussie sedan over and slapping a mustang front end on it. So theres a new V8 sedan coming to market. Hope it will sell well but I doubt it.

wait since when did ford say they were bringing the falcon stateside? i haven't heard jack. plus it's been dead sincie 16 according to ford australia, so i think it's unlikely.

and i did think the v8 lexus sedans were great. they sounded very nice when they're not choked up by stock exhaust. like the ls460 actually sounds nice. and the latest GS F has a glorious sounding 5L v8 too.

as much as i'm not opposed to the idea of a 4 door mustang with a rwd based v8, i don't think it's gonna happen. you really think ford is gonna reintroduce a brand new sedan from the ground up, when they really just planned on axing every single sedan/hatchback in their US lineup? that would also cost more to build being rwd? i like it but keep dreaming.

No recent news of it, it all seems to be from December and January. Possible news about it at the DC auto show, it's late this year. I'm hoping Ford reveals the Bronco there so they might also bring news of some other options. Like I said though, I'm extremely skeptical. Especially about the turbo V8 part, which is what all sources are saying is the possible engine.

Same! Gotta love a Honda v6.

Story time. I got my first ticket a couple days ago.

it was in the middle of Kansas, and was stuck on a two lane road in the middle of nowhere, following an oversized load semi carrying a wing from a wind turbine, a car, and another semi. This was quite a distance to pass in one maneuver. After about 10 miles of following, I finally get to a passing zone that’s clear, so I goose it. I wind it out to get past all these slowpokes (who were driving 10mph under the limit). By the time I got to the head of the pack, I was doing a buck ten, got over, and slowed down quickly as I went up over a hill. Turns out, sitting right st the top of the hill watching the whole thing was a KS state trooper. I saw him pull out behind me and pulled over. Nice guy, explained to me what I did and how he clocked my at 105, and I passed in a no passing zone (I must’ve crossed over during the pass).

He said he’d give me one ticket or the other, so I walked away with a $183 fine for passing in a no passing zone, instead of the $400+ for speeding. It was in a 65MPH zone).

got lucky on that one. Got lots of grief from the family too. Ugh.

the cylinder deactivation at 30mph is pretty noticeable as far as NVH. Once you get over 50 its hardly noticeable though. You can pop it into sport mode if you want to disable it, but without paddle shifters its kinda annoying because it sits in way low of a gear. Fuel economy is pretty good for cruising.

Thing is, they paid too much for the car so I can't get a decent deal on it. I think for the price I'd rather spend a bit more and get a new one that comes in a color I like and not tan interior.

Sure. I’ve got the 6 speed, so it doesn’t have cylinder deactivation. I got 36.7 mpg the other day driving between flagstaff and Payson AZ.

Probably not any worse than what you get now honestly. My J30 gets about the same economy as the k24 of the same generation. I know I’m a bit of a fanboy, and biased because I own one, but man the J30 is a great, underrated engine.

I actually really like the automatic in this. Its a great transmission 90% of the time. The 10% is where it fakes a slow downshift so that kicking out of cylinder deactivation is seamless. If you really step on it when its in 3 cylinder mode it ignores that, but cruising its kinda annoying.

Another weird thing is the variable steering gear. Its hard to describe, but when you start a corner it feels like its gonna understeer. Then right as you think you might start to understeer in the turn it really just digs into the corner. Its unsettling, but interesting.

I need to try to take a little lash out of the Celica's rack, since swapping to all poly a few years ago I can feel some play in it. I don't want to replace it yet but I do want to take out the play. All I can find are a few scant guides for way older Toyota, thankfully they never change a design once it works well lol.
