Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

I would really consider a very clean 6th gen accord coupe. 86 and fiesta/focus STs are too new.

Ideally I would want something thats a good cruiser, but can be enjoyable in the corners if needed. Thats why I like the IS300.

Better go with an LFA, no other choice with those strict criteria. IS300 is a solid choice. The E46 330Ci is another one, basically the same power numbers as an NA 2J, and about the same price. The second gen IS300 is also an option, or IS350 if you want more power (but you already know all this).

I read somewhere that with LFAs and if you need an oil change, you take it to the Lexus dealer and they fly a LFA tech out to do the oil change. Its insanely expensive.

I know with the new NSX the dealer has to be NSX certified, and you have to be certified before you can even touch one. It has 9 drain plugs. I don't know what entails a tech being NSX certified considering there was no NSX training at the training center when I was there. I assume online testing. The only special certs Honda has is hyrbrid and NGV which you can't even get NGV anymore.

In theory they could select techs for it, not make it available to just anyone

Okay buds, drunk me says i need some car guy opinions. Im looking to merge project cars and daily cars into one category because funds are getting tight with passive income alone. Right now im floating between a few choices and cant seem to pick what im going to be swapping to and selling both my cars for. I need something reliable. My budget is JUST shy of 30k and in that range a few stick out.

Theres the 2013-2017 370z nismo

The 2016-2019 wrx

The 2016-2018 camaro ss

And lastly at the absolute top a 2016-2017 focus rs

Whats your opinion boys. I gotta know. Most likely the focus rs will require me flying out to get and road tripping back, which im not opposed to at all. I love cross country driving and am willing to dish out gas cash for it.

Why 6th gen over 7th gen? Still hydro steering, but has much more power in the v6 trim than the 6th gen, and the v6 has a manual option. It’s maybe a little heavier, but not nearly as much as the 7th to 8th gen hump.

The 3S makes bigger power yeah, but the MZ V6 daily drives better. The E153 is bullet proof, the MZ is also bullet proof, and the 6th gen Celica is way nicer inside than Honda's of the same time period or even newer ones that would be in the same price class. FWD is fine for daily roller man, cause you won't want to mod it except a limited slip in the E153.

I’ve heard the MZs have head gasket issues. Fun engine though.  Low-revving, but good torque down low.

I think you're thinking of the previous V6's the VZ series which were iron block/aluminum head and used in some RWD truck applications. They have head gasket issues from time to time, but as far as I know mostly from being overheated which stems from the odd hydraulic fan they used in some Camry. Some MZ's had sludge issues but that was 99% owner neglect, any engine you put in a Camry is going to potentially be abused because..Camry owners.

I think you're also confusing the low revving part with the VZ series, the MZ hangs onto torque fairly well as rev's climb. It's no high rpm screamer but it makes enough power to get a 2700lb Celica out of it's own way. Especially if you get one with VVT and mechanical throttle body, the VVT smooths out the power a little more and gets a little MPG bump as well. NA tuning the engines is fairly easy too, there's options to swap for a stand alone if desired.

That’s true. The early 7th gen coupes are fugly, especially the rear. Buttlift models aren’t too bad.
