Intel seems to have serious problems transitioning to a smaller node.

It's rather painful to see ice lake pushed back yet again, since competition will be the necessary driving force to keep the market as exciting as it is right now. Intel is seriously faltering, and despite their enormous mindshare, they have so many technical problems, allowing AMD to sweep up some well needed clients. Ice lake will finally be another tock? hopefully it exists at all.

Also, the WCCFtech article has it wrong, the current node is 14nm+++, no joke.

And yet...I have a feeling they might still beat the equivalent AMD chip. People love bashing Intel for this, yet AMD was falling flat on their face for years.

It'll be interesting to see, that's for sure.

AMD has beaten Intel at core clocks before. It didn't help. (Yes, I know that was then with a much older architecture, but it's still true).

 

I'm pretty interested to see how Zen2 does.

Do other fabs have a non-compete signed with AMD? Because it's looking more and more like they'll have to just bite the bullet and use someone else's fabs at one point: they really don't want to let AMD get the unquestionable upper hand and majority market share.

Sapphire rapids is never comming is it? said i wasnt going to upgrade untill sapphire rapids so i guess im going to stick with 4th gen forever then

I’m really hoping that Intel gets back on their feet for competing with AMD, I also hope AMD siezes their chance to even the market share out so that the competition can help spark innovation.

Also I somewhat hope this isn’t real, because this will not go well for Intel.

I said that when there were rumors Skylake will have eDDR as L4 by default. In the end turned out only one Skylake had it and even that was some mid end CPU and it was only used for iGPU on it. So I bought Broadwell-E in the end and I'm still on it today...

This makes me think Zen2 mainstream has to be more then 8 cores. Look at how Intel is panicing and rushing to get more cores out.

Seeing as Epyc is 64 cores now AMD could just double the cores in it's current lineup. 8 core being the new quad core LOL.

For sure. The chiplet design on Zen 2 is going to make going all out on the core count advantage so easy it's not even funny. R7 3700X with 16 cores anyone?
