What feature in your car could you not live without?

rcmaehl

With the seasons changing my wife has become an Ice Queen, which is surprising since she lived in Florida for like 8 years. Thankfully the new car has tri-zone climate control and I'm loving it. What about you all?

is AC considered a feature?

also, side mirror warmers, they're very useful for morning drivers to deal with the dews (wiping them doesnt work, gets blurry after a while)

my old car had it, but new one doesnt uggh

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Requirement imo. It's one thing if a house doesn't have a/c because you can install a window unit, but a car is super different.

There's plenty of cars that don't run or drive. But they're still cars.

No, it's an expensive option on most German cars.

I'd assume so but I hear some weird countries *coughUKcough* apparently don't include it by default.

Bluetooth so I can play music from my phone. Don’t ever have to touch the radio again. It was on my must-have list when buying a car. Luckily it’s a standard for today’s cars to have it anyways.

Hm... Stereo System + Bluetooth.

Listening to my own music playlist completely removes my driving fatigue and turns what should be a chore into an absolute blast. It makes up 99% of the reason I love my drives.

I mean, I could listen to music with my earphones. But that comes with some dangers, if I can't hear what's going on, on the road.

And I update my music playlist relatively frequently, so having to update only one device's playlist (my phone), then having my car access it via Bluetooth is convenient.

oh, reverse sensors/cameras are also a necessity to me

especially on long vehicles like SUV

auto cruise is also important to me when i visited Aussie, because... reasons, and i would assume it's the case for many other countries.

TL;DR. cant keep one eye on speedometer and one eye on road, and their traffic enforcement is real

cant go too far below speed limit either because other drivers gets annoyed -sigh-

dashcam can live without, but would be dumb imo

and most cars dont have this, but i wish they had a built in phone holder that's actually well designed, unlike cheapo ones that breaks after few months

edit: oh and did i mention Auto transmission? because traffic jam on manual is a bish

edit 2: a latch to open the trunk on the trunk, not a key hole or worse, have to open from a latch near the driver seat

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

Well my cars are as basic as you can get by today's standard. No backup camera, no fancy driver aids (just ABS, Traction Control, Stability Control), no fancy entertainment just the factory monochrome LCD unit with Aux, no heated mirrors, and no sunroof. None of them even have Bluetooth built in, I have to use my Aukey receiver for that. So pretty much every feature my cars have are requirements at this point.

Excuse you, but German engineering is brilliant. Only the Japanese can come close.

It's when they get loosey goosey with who they let become head of a project that things can go awry.

Sure it does. My 1981 Suzuki GS250T is very well engineered. Can take the whole thing apart with only a few spanners in 10 minutes. Didn't really need anything when I bought it recently either. Just a starter and a chain, fucker's been mint ever since. The thing is as old as it is and runs and drives like a champ. Perfectly reliable (that is, when I don't stall out trying to take off in second gear).

Specific to my car? The LED lights on touring trim civics. Adaptive cruise is nice, but I could with without it.

You said that German engineering is brilliant but our E60 5-series with electrical issues quite literally all the time no matter how much money we burn fixing stuff would like to say otherwise.

Not really a feature of the car itself, but if you live anywhere with snow or a mud season then hard rubber floor mats are nice. Especially if you bring a lot of salt into the vehicle since it's a pain to get out of carpet mats. Just spray them off and they're good to go.

Seat warmers are a blessing as well.
