I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

Haha, got to use some kind of protection. I just had to do something outside in the rain after GF scratched the mirror on a wall inside a carpark... 🤔

Result not good (masking tape got loose due to wet) but it will do for now until the weekend. I had to put up a makeshift tent so I didn't get water in the paint but still some of the masking tape got loose and I got some primer on an area I had masked... Well, at least it wont rust until I can fix it properly.

I've recently discovered the "Frog Tape" brand bright green painter's tape. Having used a variety of different masks for home and automotive before I've never really looked at the Frog range because they've always been expensive and, hey, masking tape is masking tape right? But I've been super impressed with it when spraying some of my custom 3D printed PC parts, adhesion is great and the lines are crisper than anything I've ever used before.

But yeah, spraying 2K is one of the reasons I've invested in proper PPE. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. Also very useful when machine cutting acrylic, metals, or anything else that tends to disperse a lot of nasty particles.

Yeah well I dunno, painting in heavy rain will always seem dodgy to me. Would have been better if I gave it more time but I was soaking. Think it will be fine with another layer of paint and a couple with clear coat and when I get the 2000 grit sanding paper it should look decent along with the other small paint jobs I've done to the car. Can't believe sanding paper can be so hard to come by, wonder if people started eating it.

I use yellow frog for detail work masking because it leaves no or almost no tape residue behind and it's super easy to come off after a long time. It is expensive but it really is super good.

I'll be honest, we haven't had great luck with ATK engines at the shop over the years. We do rarely use them but when we do there's always something. Boss got burned by them about 20 years ago on an expensive caddy big block that came with the wrong head gasket on one side that they refused to warranty even when he yanked the heads and could show them what was up after the initial OK to RDI to verify the problem. About 5 years ago we got an engine that came crated with a bent water pump that they wouldn't warranty either. Maybe we've just had bad luck with them, I know they do a lot of sale. Just make sure you inspect it SUPER thoroughly and document everything and read all the fine print.
