I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Waxed my car for the first time. Looks pretty nice.

Some people don't like the "deep cherry pearl" color, but I like it. Changes color depending on the lighting.

Compressor locked up on a Jeep Compass with like 200K miles, shattered the clutch! No metal debris in the discharge port so it locked up hard and fast. That steel nut in the middle isn't small and it shattered in half like it was nothing. Amazing failure mode.

Sounds like soon the car will be worth the cost of a new PCM in addition to whatever value it had before, courtesy of your shop.

Shits been crashing on me with the diagnostic software for a week now. Warned my boss, they bought a usb cable for the VCI because they go bad often. Still having issues. We have the old VCI which works fine even on older hondas, but its slow. Pretty sure its about to die.

I'm pretty close to just buying my own new VCI and using my laptop so I don't have to wait in line for it + wait 5 minutes for the VCI to load. The newer ones on the training center take like 10 seconds to boot and load up a car.

Hoping to go to SCCA autoX national championship in 2021 (not to win.. just to do it) tho.

@vetali Having some electrical issues with the junk civic lol

I finished the timing belt job. Was pretty straightforward. I did notice the alternator was a reman unit. Not sure from where, it had a sticker that said “remanufactured” on it. Not sure if it’s related but yeah. I had some other issues with the brakes (lost a caliper mounting bolt on a test drive... whoops) which is why I haven’t said much the past week

car was running fine when I took it for a drive. It got up to temp fine, drove it for a solid 15 mins. Then the time came for the final test... doing a pull make sure it’s good all the way to redline right?

Started a pull, was fine. Car is slow but whatever. Around 5k RPM... CEL comes on and tach drops to 0 and all engine power is lost. I let off and let it coast down, apply just light throttle and the engine is still working. Anything more than light throttle and it doesn’t do anything tho. So I’m limping it home and on the way the temp and gas gauge go to 0 as well (tach is still 0).

get home and turn it off, restart it, no tach, no temp, and no fuel gauge. Battery light is on and CEL. I go run and grab my OBD2 reader. Plug it in and nothing... can’t get it to connect. It’s a really old Wifi one I have had for my phone for years sometimes it doesn’t connect right. So not sure if it wasn’t it’s fault or the car.

I decide to just reset everything by undoing the negative battery terminal. So I do that. Restart the engine, and it works fine for about 8-10 seconds then stumbles and nearly dies (cel comes on) then catches itself and car keeps running (cel goes off). The battery light is constantly on while this happens. It does this over and over until eventually the tach goes to 0, temp and gas gauge go to 0 too, and CEL stays on. Then it runs fine just I assume it’s in some kind of “failure mode”.

Not sure where to start on this one.

When its idling battery voltage is at 14.1Vish, when off 12.5ish.

Hoping youve seen this before and can give me the bad news. Seen stuff online about it being alternator, ecu, “multiplexer” whatever that is, Or something else called the “ELD unit” also not sure what that is

@bcredeur97

My friend wants to know if Miatas are still just for 'the gays' so I thought you'd be the guy to ask.

As far as the Civic that sounds pretty awful but maybe it's just a bad ELD, they're not hard to change. It's inside the fuse box, basically a giant amp clamp that reads all vehicle power draw so the alt can be correctly commanded. Suspiciously it doesn't seem like an ELD though, sure seems more like a computer issue but again bizarre it would do that after a hard rev unless the alt is throwing hella AC volts and spiked something.

Lol miatas are for anyone. I know 1 gay dude with an NC. He likes his car but doesn’t take care of it at all. Probably won’t have it much longer if I had to guess

all the other people I know have NA’s or NB’s and it’s either race car or just stock and very clean and enjoying the car as if it was an old MGB. It all depends on how you view it I guess. I like them for how they drive mostly, so light and handles so extremely well compared to just about everything else in its price range...

Yeah it seems pretty bad. I too wonder if the high rpm made the alternator spike in voltage or something and killed the ECU. That really suck I’m not sure what to do or where to start lol

this $2500 cheap reliable car has so far only been slowly climbing in price and doesn’t seem to be too reliable. Knew I should of got a Toyota...

revised the part about what lights are on when it’s running/nearly dying and such. Had it backwards. I have video I can upload somewhere if you want but it doesn’t really explain much more than what I say honestly
