Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

I was joking about the gay thing lol. Told him you can get a V8 and drivetrain stuffed in there but he's happy with his XC90 and Escalade and airplane.

it'd be a fun little toy for him prob. if he fits in it. That's the thing... If you're 6ft you can fit but it's a bit uncomfortable, best enjoyed if you're smaller.

I can guarantee he would not fit in it. I've got a friend on a different car forum who's started HRT and they're effin stoked because their shoulder width is shrinking and they won't be bumping up against the door all the time now if they get another Miata.

Hoping youve seen this before and can give me the bad news. Seen stuff online about it being alternator, ecu, “multiplexer” whatever that is, Or something else called the “ELD unit” also not sure what that is

We don't do many ELD units. You can remove it to reset it and see if anything changes after reinstalling it. I would double check you didn't miss any grounds and make sure they're secured. Could be an ignition switch. Kinda common on older Hondas. If it has a MICU its really common for water to leak on them and it causes wonky stuff as well, but I think Accords got those first. Check fuses too. "Backup" under the hood and "meter" inside.

Strange issue with lots of potential causes.

this seems similar.. slightly different. but similar. (mine has that same click... but my engine rpm dips lower than his (engine nearly stalls)). and just like his after so many times.. it goes into that limp failure mode or whatever

Starting to think I fried the ecu. Lol my luck

The alternator coming loose can fry the ecu? what the flip. It shouldn't be that easy! xD

We had one with a bad MICU once, 8th gen Civic, guy had just bought it and took it to be 'detailed' by some guy off CraigsList. Well CL detailer like....hosed the car out inside or some shit. Everything was wet under the dash and the MICU was corroded inside on the circuit board.

3rd gen odysseys are really common for the windshield leaking right on top of it. Starts with random power sliding door issues and evolves into dying battery and other fun things. I don't think 7th gen civics had them but I could be wrong. We really don't work on them much anymore at the dealer.

@bcredeur97 It does have a MICU

Does your instrument cluster display a parking brake indicator? And does the immobilizer key show up when keyed on and disappear as normal?

Used to see older Accords with the PGM-FI relay go bad pretty regularly, but one does not speak of his own Accord.

I’d rather do a single turbo

As Phil Morrison (the car's owner) said, you don't gain much by turboing the Murci's engine... I'd go with ITB's for the sheer noise. It doesn't need more power :P

You also dont risk blowing a very expensive engine with ITBs over a turbo

You do however, suck in way more dust

It is possible to get filters for ITBs, not sure how restrictive they are in terms of air flow though.

they are usually a pretty light density foam so they  actually prob don't work that well in terms of filtering. lots of airflow tho
