Thermaltake partnered with Studio F. A. Porsche to design and release the new ARGENT E700 gaming chair, it's gorgious, and it costs $1300.

My thoughts

I think kidneys are no longer a viable option...

The chair looks luxurious, the choice of colors is pretty neat, I love it from an aesthetic perspective. However, when seeing the $1300 price tag I cannot help but laugh at this being marketed as a "gaming chair". Even when it comes to high end, would you really pay this much on a gaming chair, where for less than half the price you can grab yourself the most ergonomic chair you can imagine?

I know with this price tag, they're not looking to satisfy your average gamer, rather a very niche "elite" market. It's a status chair designed by Porsche, that is all.

Bucket seats are nice in fast cars as they keep you from sliding around but I find in gaming chairs they are extremely uncomfortable and I would much rather have an ergonomic chair from Office Depot

What? I think the most expensive office chairs I see are 1500 and those are the top of the line ones unless they have gone way up in price the last time I looked. Also the idea that anything under 500 is crap is actually ridiculous. I would say first off I have a chair that cost about 400ish and honestly I can't tell muc of the difference between it and my friends Herman Miller aeron. As someone who spends alot of time sitting at my desk my chair has been a lifesaver and has done wonders for stopping alot of the issues I had with my wrist and back.

Ferrari is probably the worst offender, selling or branding everything from laptops to bags.

IMHO it's a generation lost thing. Automotive technology was the panicle of mainstream progress in the public eye, and the racing sport was a means to develop it further as a spectacle. I mean, it still is a thing, but after so many generations, companies start drifting away from their roots and expand in all directions in the form of mass-marketing their label. Usually it's to gain profit (duh), but also to maintain and grow market share.

And yes, it cheapens the brand.

I like the design. Looks nice. I've owned several PD stuff over the years, and it's all been high quality. I imagine this is no different. Thermaltake is also known for partnering with car manufacturer design groups. Their BMW collab stuff was superb, and to this day is still one of my favourite mice. I imagine this chair is no different, with a lot of attention to detail.

Depends on the materials used. Some aren't terrible. Plus they're generally much wider than an actual car bucket seat. Having used the cheaper ergo chairs from office supply stores, I'd probably take something like this if the option was between the two.

You can grab them any time in liquidation sales, there's a few ebay stores that deal with nothing but that. Companies always spend their max budget even if they don't need the items, or they stand to lose that budget the next cycle.

It's a design studio. Design is what they do. The studio has been around since the 70s. This isn't new.

Ferrari itself sells very little. They just licence their name. Which, when official is an odd play a lot of the time, but they also just get ripped off left and right. As a smaller company I think they gave up long ago when it comes to legal action. 

 

Porsche Design was a studio started by the grandson of the founder of Porsche. So. While they now are largely tied to the car brand, in the beginning he was just making things to go along with the cars, using his family name. Not exactly the same as cheapening the brand through mass marketing.

I'd hope so too, but then again, how many people spend $1000 on an RGB PC, and only half of that is the computer hardware itself?

Or they just like the design. There's tons do things, especially furniture, that I buy without knowing anything of the brand. 

 

Though I do feel with chairs like this, it's kind of a hard sell. It probably has very high quality materials and is built to flawless perfection (for what it is), but without being able to get asses into it to feel that, I don't imagine they'll get many sales. Though I also don't think they'll make many. 

 

The worst thing next to RGB is people buying a $3,000 computer and asking what $300 monitor they can get. The thing you interact with during gaming as well as everything else.

as an owner of dxracers and aerons and many other chairs too, each has their pros and cons

seems like the higher the price the less cons but there are still some

embody chairs go for how much?

if its too expensive for you or not for you, oh wait you cant keep scrolling you have to neg neg

 

me personally i welcome new chairs and new designs, my comfort isnt everyone elses comfort

my taste isnt everyone elses taste

more the merrier cause it will drive prices down eventually when similar ones come out

also how long have they been making seats for their vehicles?

you ever hear how uncomfortable they are?
