[mini] Cyberpunk 2077 delayed to September 17th, 2020.

Pretty much what the title says, according to a tweet by CD Project Red, the launch date has been moved to 17/09/2020.

The game is currently playable, but they want to add and polish, as well as (play) test the content, causing the delay.

 

 

I'm staying positive as I'd rather wait then play a buggy mess.

I'd take 10 delays over a rushed POS any day. I'm actually pleased the industry seems to be moving away from rushing and hard deadlines.

Yeah it is way better to release a game when it's ready rather than release a game that is playable but has a ton of bugs. I would mention fallout 76 but that couldn't be called playable at launch.

We all knew what happened when game get rushed to release, just look at Final Fantasy XV...

This game was one of the reasons that pushed me to finally get a proper gaming system. I should be used to game delays by now though.

Imagine if you'd gone to all that work and spent all that money just to find out the game isn't really what you expected. 

 

I'm all for delays if they're actually doing something with the time. Do it right first time or don't do it at all, as Fallout 76 has shown us

At least I have other games in my Steam Library I play in the meantime that I couldn't before on the laptop I had for school.

I understand, but can't help but be sad  even with that logic. Hoping for good optimization for PC in that time like Rockstar did for GTA V.

Even better, now I don't have to play it on my 1070 and can get whatever's the next best thing as the 3000 series Nvidia chips would probably be out, and even Ryzen 4000 CPUs for a slightly upgrade over my 3700x.

That was textbook development hell with all the bells and whistles, I think we have reason to believe CD Project Red are not that dumb to let that happen.

I'm happy they are taking their time to make the game as good as they possibly can.

But I also wich they wouldn't have put out the original date. Publishers need to stop putting release dates on their games a year before release. It's especially bad for games that do yearly releases because then they are just stuck in a deadline and things like "crunch" happen. Keep it vague till you know for sure.

I'm all for taking extra time until they're satisfied to call a game a finished product. It's very important too being their new big IP too. I remember in the trailer stated it's ready when it's ready. So yeah that's good.

Cyberpunk is not a game I will play but I am pretty confident that CD Projekt Red knows what they are doing and we shall trust them
