  2. I don't think that'd suit OP's usecase. Also, I never got it to work well; either the host, the VM or both would crash after a few moments. YMMV and all that, but I wouldn't consider it even remotely useable. Proper pass-through with a separate GPU is easy enough to set up and works fine, tho. Virtualizing Intel's iGPU also works perfectly fine for me, though it's obviously not going to be useable for gaming.
  3. Only if you want to use VMware for virtualization. KVM works great under Linux and is free.
  4. You can't pass-through the GPU that is already in use. Your primary GPU is already in use by Linux, so you can't pass it through. (Well, okay, unless you are using Intel's iGPU or one of AMD's or NVIDIA's datacenter GPUs. Intel's iGPU does support virtualization.)
  5. You need two GPUs, which in and of itself is typically a show-stopper for most.
  6. Nothing much, really. BIOS RAID has always been shit. Software-RAID can make use of all the feature an OS-kernel offers, it can be fully filesystem-aware instead of just a block-based thing like BIOS RAID, it can be updated whenever needed unlike BIOS RAID, which can only be updated along the entire BIOS and so on. I would ditch the BIOS RAID, but it's up to you. I don't use Windows Storage Spaces, so no. Should be easy enough to find plenty of guides by googling around.

  11. These days even data-centers tend to opt for software-RAID, like e.g. the aforementioned ZFS. BIOS RAID should be avoided.
  12. It all depends on how the card has been designed. If the card has been designed to use the backplate as an additional heatsink, then yes, it's doing what it's supposed to be doing.
  13. That applies to most (all?) mobo-builtin BIOS RAIDs. You should be using software RAID like e.g. Windows Storage Spaces under Windows or Btrfs/ZFS under Linux. Software RAID can make use of TRIM just fine, software RAID is also more flexible and may outperform the BIOS-one as well.

I am left wondering what, exactly, happens in the background when a tweet is reported for content like this; is it forwarded to some low-wage, practically untrained employee who then may or may not even check the tweet out properly and just clicks on "yes" or "no"? Low-wage employees don't have much incentive in putting in much effort and, as has been demonstrated many times in the past, just do the bare minimum to get through the day. Also I, at least, do not know how well Twitter trains their employees who sift through these complaints, so they may be completely out of their dept

  17. Of course, but this seems like a case where they did some updates on the engine and accidentally broke one or more exceptions they had added for software like nmap. These kinds of things happen quite easily, but they're also typically easily fixable, since the exception is already there -- just need to figure out what part of the update broke it and fix that.

  19. Eh, I can see why an automated system could classify nmap as a hazard. Obviously, it doesn't do anything bad, but the behavioural patterns it emits could e.g. resemble a networked worm at work.
  20. Don't even need to do it without thinking when all it takes is for you to be lying on your back and the phone slipping out of your hands. I know a lot of people like to lie on their backs, messing with their phones, including my hubby. (I've never taken a liking to such a habit, personally)
