YouTube and Google+ are Divorcing! Two Christmases! Wait...

So it looks like the fight is over! Bob and his Army have won! YouTube and Google+ have officially split! It's like that hot celebrity you have a crush on dumped their super lame significant other!

It will take time to roll out but you'll only need a Google account to create a new YouTube Channel and interact on YouTube.com and further more all across google.

This comes shortly after Google has cut features like Photos away from Google+ and made them stand alone offerings.

Their aim is supposed to be a "more focused Google+ experience."

So you won't have to have a publicly viewable and searchable Google+ profile anymore. This means everyone can go back to leaving completely unaccountable flaming, trolling and belligerent hate filled comments on YouTube. Well I guess that never really stopped.

Part of me liked the idea that people might have to check the ridiculous and horrible things they said on the internet. Like how* Alanah Pearce started contacting the moms of middle schoolers threatening her life. Another part of me believes you should be able to maintain a level of anonymity online.

Either way it seems that the majority have spoken and Google have listened.

I started to construct my post before the other thread was created 10 mins ago. i took my time did some reasearch and found some analytics and made a constrictive post and i'm not sorry. have a nice day all.

The changes also mark a symbolic end of Google+ as a social network meant to rival Facebook. Forcing Google users to sign up for a Google+ account in order to the use some of the company's other products and services was a clear bid to generate interest in its social network, but it backfired with many users.
 

"People have told us that accessing all of their Google stuff with one account makes life a whole lot easier,"But we’ve also heard that  it doesn't make sense for your Google+ profile to be your identity in all the other Google products you use"

 
While 60% of those surveyed claim they have a Google+ profile, only 21% of Internet users self-identify as active users.
 
One may think that the figure of 60% of all Internet users with a Google+ profile should be respected. There are 2.2 billion total Google+ profiles, after all. Even 21% of all Internet users could translate into access to large populations.
 
The problem is that while the other social media channels may have fewer members, these members visit, post and engage at a much higher rate. GlobalWebIndex’s numbers indicate that despite the above-mentioned Google+ advantages, it hasn’t been able to keep consumers on the channel.
 
The tough number for Google+ to go up against is Facebook’s 42% of all Internet users identifying as active on the channel. In fact, the chart below indicates that about 50% or more of social network users other than those on Google+ consider themselves active. As you’ll read below, Facebook’s own data confirms this regular activity in spades.



If you already have a Google+ account you will be given the option to remove it in the future. No further details were revealed about that, but I assume we’ll hear more when the company officially severs its connection to Google+.
 
Google+ will soon become a 100% optional service, which is music to many peoples’ ears who have griped about it being forced on everyone since launch.
 
It will be fascinating to see, in the coming months, how this alters the landscape of Google+.
 
Many are already declaring the social network “dead”. This may end up being the beginning for the end, or it may be an opportunity for Google+ to take on a new, autonomous life separated from Google.



I finally can stop getting notification every time someone +1's or comment both on my Google Bell notification and onto my Gmail.

depends. in many channels I sub to, I see a lot of comments debating the subject matter. there will always be those that flame, but this is true IRL too.

channels with less flame in comments:

 

Vsauce 1, 2, & 3 (80% of the time, they are arguing over subject matter)

Vihart (its math, not much flaming going on there)

MinutePhysics (depending on the subject, there could be some flaming. but rarely)

ERB (EpicRapBattles); not a good exmaple, but barely any flaming going on. despite that the entire show is, essentially, "flame warz"

 

and dare I say "TED" those comments are rather flamie ^.^ this is always due to the subject. and although teh conversations get really heated, they are still arguing over the subject matter. not picking on people because they think "you're such a fgt,m8" -- again, there are those people everywhere. but this is true irl too.

 

if this experiment has taught us anything its: asshole will be assholes. even if you know where they live.

While it was a bit of a mess at first, overall the forced Google+ account situation made life a lot easier with Google products.

Keeping everything tied to 1 account, managing multiple accounts at once, managing multiple YouTube channel from 1 account, and involving anything you want discoverable on the web into Google's own priority social network.

 

While lots of people can say they don't like it - and I, myself, only use it as an extension of other Google services, for the most part - it never actually hurt anyone. Maybe some minor inconvenience when things weren't working right at the start of the integration.

 

While it was a terrible mess, G+ ended up working out great for anyone who uses a lot of Google services. Everything I said before, plus their Circles - while being a tad silly - actually made keeping up with a TON of contacts super easily without memorizing anything, super simple.

 

So to now go back and make it "optional".... isn't going to make much sense. Either they'll destroy all the wonderful features that have just polished, or we'll be back at the start of the integration where everyone has different kinds of accounts and they're not compatible with each other, YouTube comments will be dysfunctional with different account types, etc.

Are they any points on regarding how it's a bad thing ? google plus youtube integration was the most annoying experiences ever, and i gave up responding to my subscribers after G+ was forced onto them. so it's always a good thing that G+ is optional not mandatory.
