I've been looking at some things. I like lexus LSs but they are too soft for me. ES is even softer. Been looking at some german crap as well. e39, e46s, a4, s4. Thats if I go with a car. Been looking at SUVs as well. When I was laid off doing side gigs was a pain in the civic, even with the hatchback. Kinda weird how I can find cheap MDXs all day, but RDXs are still holding value and are just trimmed up CRVs until the newest gen.

It’s a soft car but im embracing the soft car experience at that point. If I want to have fun I can jump in the Miata.

the thing is our roads are really terrible here and I’m kinda tired of it. But I don’t want an SUV lol

I mean, if you could get an EG or an EK for 2 grand, it would probably be much more reliable than the one you got, not too keen on the gen you got anyway

Not saying you should get one of those instead of an LS tho.

I need to take a break from Honda’s at this point xD

jokes aside, I do want something a little bit newer. cars from the 90’s are getting so old now.... they are often pretty ragged out and need a lot of love. I want to start with something nicer because it’s easier to keep it that way than it is to bring it back... not saying they aren’t any clean ones but I’d have to spend more than $2k for one probably. Really I want to spend maybe $7k on a decent LS

I dunno. the soft car experience gets old the first time you try to take a corner at the speed limit. Understeer everywhere. I don't want an SUV as my main rig but I also need something bigger and that can haul more than 600 pounds without riding like garbage on the crappy highway pavement we have here.

Early to mid 2000s is what I am looking at. A good mix of efficiency without doing dumb stuff to meet emissions regulations. 08-14 you gotta deal with the recession cars that were rushed out, half baked, slapped together to turn a dollar. We're likely repeating that cycle again, but this time its even more sketch because they cannot build cars. We haven't seen a new car delivered in 3 weeks now, and our new lot is getting really bare. Last I heard they were producing cars again but then they got hit by ransomware and it halted production again.

Hello guys/galls :)

im personally looking to buying a new car, don't know which one to pic though debating between 2 would like more imput.

either the 2015 ford mondeo or the 2015 ford focus.
Im looking for a diesel with at least a bit of a punch.

Since my current car and hold on to your horses is a fiesta from 2008 :P
i really need a new car for the amount of driving im doing now. currently driving maybe 3000-4000km a month.

any opinions? idea's? :) yes i thought about different models and brands but i really like the fords handling more compared to the bland and boring driving of a lets say volkswagen.
and i rather have a hoot driving a car since i drive so much than have a bit more luxerious drive.

I might be slightly biased .. but imma say Focus or if you are willing to spend a bit more money a Volvo V40... same chassis and some of the engine options(mainly the 1.6 diesel and 1.6 ecoboost) imo worth giving the V40 a shot a swell
I have a 2015 V40 D2 with the 1.6 turbo diesel and its quite nice and very economical but i would personally go for something with the 2.0 diesel, especially if you are doing mostly highway driving you might want the extra punch from a slightly larger engine. Around town the 1.6 is more than enough tho. cant say much about reliability as i have had it for around 3 months

There are a few Focus ST and Focus RS owners in here so they might be biased towards the focus as well :D

Interesting.... tungsten-carbide surface coated rotors offer 30% longer service life at 1/3 the price of full carbon ceramics (granted this is Porsche oem). Brake fade characteristics of ceramics and 90% less brake dust because the wear rate is 10% that of cast iron rotors. The downside is once you consume the tungsten layer (roughly 0.1mm in this application) it necessitates a full rotor replacement. 10 piston calipers standard on this SUV package, curious if it'll be made available on sports cars anytime soon.

Pricing in USD. PSCB is $3500 and PCCB is $9000.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at getting a 2011 Volvo V60 1.6D with around 120,000 miles. At the moment I don't do many long drives but as of now I'm becoming a full-time photographer and filmmaker, so far most of my work has been local but I'm thinking that I may be driving long distances as I get more work. My dad is concerned about diesels because of the DPF clogging up if frequent long drives are not taken. I know some more modern cars are better at managing their DPF's and so some people seem to reckon its not a huge issue and just a case of giving it a good run if it does clog and some people such as my dad would rather avoid them like the plague. I wanted to know what you guys would think and your experiences with these diesels.

Many thanks,
Lewis smile.gif

It should be a really nice car as i have a 2015 V40 with that engine and can say that its great around town, but for mostly highway driving id recommend one of the 2.0 diesels if it fits your budget. Would try to look for one with lower miles if possible.
Personally just had the car for like 3 months but i doubt the DPF cleaning would be an issue.
The car should clean the DPF automatically when necessary without you even noticing during highway driving, or it will complain that the DPF is full and for that you need to check the manual.
Other option but slightly risky .. is cut out the DPF and go to some place that can program out the DPF related things in the cars ECU ... poof No DPF issues xD
Might some emissions related issues then tho

Oh man they've bashed the NSX in every video. Granted these are likely earlier cars, but twitchy handling in track mode or at the limit and questionable brake feel are things you dont expect from Honda.

Kinda weird because that contradicts it. I like the new NSX after hating on it when it first released. Saw one in person a while back, beautiful car. Just stupidly overpriced. The C8 is likely the nail in the coffin for the NSX.
