Lol no I'm not fixing that thing it's not worth it anymore lol.

It runs... just leaks a good bit of oil, and the A/C compressor stopped compressing and instead started making funny noises about a month ago(it's not low on refrigerant... just not doing anything). otherwise it's just a crappy car in general that isn't worth anything, so yeah I don't want to fix. just so many little annoyances wrong with it, you know? I feel like if it was otherwise a nice car i'd fix it but it's just not worth it to me anymore.

I'm about a year into it. prob sell/scrap and replace it next year whether it makes it that far or not. Right now I try to try to drive it to more than I drive the miata but the heat and humidity is pretty killer at this point lol, especially on the 40 minute drive home... oof

Oh and the transmission input shaft bearing I'm pretty sure is a ticking time bomb on it.(it could be just the clutch release bearing but I doubt it) I'm not doing that... again just not worth it on a $2000 salvage titled car that is in rather poor shape....

i originally just thought it was just the auto transmissions that had issues on these but... nope. Was wrong there.

 

$2000 civic experiment over. It’s not worth it. The stereotype that all civics won’t break much is false 

 

so what do I get next? I’m thinking a Lexus LS and I need you to talk me out of it. Like an LS430 or even a 460 if that’s affordable. (I’m thinking I might cave to the cheaper prices and simpler car and get an ES though)

We don't see many hondas with automatic issues aside from people that don't service them.

 

I've been looking at some things. I like lexus LSs but they are too soft for me. ES is even softer. Been looking at some german crap as well. e39, e46s, a4, s4. Thats if I go with a car. Been looking at SUVs as well. When I was laid off doing side gigs was a pain in the civic, even with the hatchback. Kinda weird how I can find cheap MDXs all day, but RDXs are still holding value and are just trimmed up CRVs until the newest gen.

I mean, if you could get an EG or an EK for 2 grand, it would probably be much more reliable than the one you got, not too keen on the gen you got anyway

Not saying you should get one of those instead of an LS tho.
