So Anonymous just doxxed Ajit Pai

A few days ago the public action group Anonymous posted a link to a pastebin, the pastebin contained all the personal information to FCC chairman Ajit Pai include multiple street addresses, phones and the names of multiple members of his family

Property searches show one of his homes to be worth $1.7m

My thoughts? Why? All this does is give him ammunition for his argument and enable him to carry on by throwing Anonymouses actions back at us with the old "look at how they behave" argument.

 

I fully condemn including his families details in this but even releasing just his info is wrong.

 

It gains us nothing and loses us so much.

As with any doxxing, this is just stupid and irresponsible.  All it really does is undermine any kind of legal credibility that Anon may have wanted and turns Pai into a victim.

Not a justification for this behavior, but... Ajit did vote against NN, 3 to 2. That does make him responsible for the ruling. That's how it works. His was the deciding vote and he did so un-apologetically. So technically, 3 people are responsible for the NN overturn. Not 50, not 100. 3.

I would have condoned to release the info if they found some illegalities in his behaviour, but without anything further, this is just stupid.

People need to remember: this is not how you get net neutrality reinstated. This is not how you make progress. This just proves that you are petty and that you don't care about moving the world forward, only about being right. If you want to defeat him, you need to prove that net neutrality is the right thing to do, and this does not do that.

 

If anyone on this forum actually supports this heinous action, then I would be ashamed to stand by you in support of net neutrality. This is not what I stand for when I think of a free and open web.

Vigilante justice is best left in films like Mad Max, not in democratic society. That said, I won't hold my breath but I'd wager we find out something messy in all of this. He did used to be a lawyer for Verizon. If we were being honest about this, he shouldn't have been put in charge of the FCC for that reason alone.

 

Also, doxxing him isn't going to bring any harm to him or his family because no one is going to harm him physically. They'll likely just send him texts, tweets and emails. Knowing his age or date of birth or address... most of this was leaked on all of us already back when Equifax oopsed anyway.
