Why is my wifi adapter underperforming?

my Realtek 8832cu wireless LAN WIFI 6 USB NIC is underperforming compared to my tp link Wi-Fi adapter both in the same place?
my tp link adapter gets 170-190
the Realtek one only gets about 80-90

Any ideas on potential solutions?

the realtek says its capable of handling 4000 something mbps so its not low end.

If you're checking speeds on the same machine in the same location, so only the WiFi adapter changes, it's most likely a difference in antenna design.

 

Why not use the TP-Link adapter?

its my brothers im trying to sort out his realtek adapter while comparing it to mine

You're right i just got the antenna to stand up straight and its 180mbps cheers
