That may be an old render. nVidia has a history of making these kind of last-minute changes before major announcement. Easier to change a comparison chart than renders.

its going to be 12 pin on all off them probably going the same way as back in the day you used 2 4 pin molex to get 1 6pin

So, if my 1080ti has 3584 CUDA cores at 1811mhz, does that mean that the 3080 with its over 8000 cores will be over 2x faster at normal games?

Does it mean finally 4k 60fps gaming?

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Just remember that the "raw performance" numbers assume full use of all the 3 units (shaders, RT, Tensor) so unless your application / game uses all of that then you're almost certainly not going to get "twice the performance".

Basically if you don't use DLSS and RT you'll be leaving a bunch of performance on the table, and be SOL with titles that don't support them.

still though, they bumped the shaders/cuda cores up a lot with this gen. Honestly a lot more than I expected...

Perhaps they wanna release new titan card when AMD defeats the rtx 3090

The new titan can't be much bigger unless they give it a GA100 die.

Edit: Looking here https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/nvidia-ga100.g931 vs https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/nvidia-ga102.g930

GA100 does not have the doubled fp32 units in GA102/RTX3090 that Nvidia kind of glossed over. GA102 also has more tensor cores. For a gaming workload GA100 would lose I think? Not win by much.

Overall a relatively boring launch event, but I wasn't really expecting much.

The green screen effect without a green screen was pretty neat. Not something I'd ever use, and it'll be interesting to see how seamless it is, but neat nonetheless.

Nice to see the prices aren't any higher than last year, and the 3090 is a considerable discount to the Titan RTX. Which makes sense. A price like that will make a far more tempting upgrade to those considering something with more features.

@gloop @Mister Woof @Sport Driver @bellabichon @EChondo @Ed-petit

It'd be real nice if the card actually has performance that matches the RTX 2080Ti, but I think you really need to bring your expectations down.

Pretty much the whole event kept commenting on RTX improvements. I'm willing to bet that it has 2080Ti RTX performance, not overall performance.

Used prices won't drop to the bottom.

hallelujah it's a dual slot card, i knew third party vendors would have 2-2.5 slot cards

most motherboard have 3 slot spacing, 3 slot gpu would've sucked for multi GPU

Haha, yeah, for the whole 6 people that will use a multi GPU setup in 2020.

Seeing as there's almost 80 million people that play Fortnite, probably at least a few hundred thousand. Seems like it'd be a worthwhile investment.

Nvidia out here telling the people that bought 2080tis at $1200 to go fuck themselves straight up. Not gonna lie it stings a little, they released a better GPU for pretty much half the price of the 2080ti which is awesome for those who didn't get one but those that did are getting screwed, if the specs and performance stays true, the 3080 has killed the resale-ability of the 2080ti.

The 3070 is likely only as fast as a 2080Ti in RTX performance.

You shouldn't let it sting. If you let it affect you like that, you shouldn't buy top tier PC hardware ;) It's to be expected.

No one got screwed. You chose to pay for a premium product, you used the product and got it's levels of performance.

As for resale, if you were worried about it you should have sold it before the launch of the new cards.

46 minutes ago, Escanor said:

Hope i can get a rtx 3080 with 2x 8 pin instead of 12 pin unless cable mod is gonna offer 12 pin cable with black and white sleeved cables that i can use on my evga 1300 g2 directly, much rather have 12 pin then 3x 8 pin

Why wouldn't you just sleeve the 12 pin cable? It's not that hard.

46 minutes ago, jasonc_01 said:

Ok so the 3090 is the new titan and Ampere is a huge price drop next to Turing.

They absolutely left room for a 3080ti between $699 and $1499. I'm thinking the rumored 3080 with 20gb of VRAM is a 3080ti.

This is great but also really sucks to have to wait now for the 3080ti launch.

I think there will be a 20GB version of the 3080 for board partners only, as a way to give them an edge over the reference design cards.

The 80 Ti will likely come out next year.

43 minutes ago, xg32 said:

ya it's 100usd cheaper than rumors, big navi must be fast lol.

Probably had nothing to do with big Navi. The prices were just rumors and guesses.

42 minutes ago, Mateyyy said:

A leaked 3090 model from Zotac had two 8-pins (if the image is to be believed), so I think it's safe to say that you'll be able to get 8+8/8+6-pin 3080s from AIBs.

I don't think that'd be right. It needs more power than that. If they did do that I imagine the cards performance would suffer as a result.

40 minutes ago, Quinnell said:

Wonder what the 3080Ti will bring to the table.  Going to wait and see how that stacks up before making an upgrade decision.

More performance. You'll likely have to wait until next year to find out.

28 minutes ago, dfsgsfa said:

why not just drop the price of 2080ti to 699?

amd shut down the r&d department

Probably because they don't produce it anymore. They're not like AMD; they don't keep pushing out older stuff.

28 minutes ago, Nowak said:

I'll wait for AMD's response before judging if AMD's gonna get "decimated" or whatever. Can't say I'm too pleased with that pricing structure.

What were you expecting? They're the same as last years, cheaper than the year before that.

I'll be shocked if AMD releases something comparable, with drivers that don't have issues in the first few months.
