I can't believe this tread has gone on this long. The bear in question

is nothing more then a nursing aid and was brought up all the way

back in Jan. here. It does not help any one with suicide Seppukuma 

isn't even the things name its been photoshopped in. The bear is 

called ROBEAR and just ment to be an aid for patients that need help 

getting up and around their home without having a full time nurse.

Take from it what you will, but yet again, Japan is doing some weird sh*t ... again. The JSDD has brought forth the super kawaii bear that will help you euthanize yourself 23 different ways. I won't put too much of my personal input into this as I don't wan't this thread turn sour right off the bat.

The growing suicide rate, as well as the senior population is becoming an increasing concern.  Hospital Staff, and Suicide Assistant Volunteers from the JSDD are required to help euthanize those who are unable to themselves due to physical, or psychological reasons. To aid these carers and volunteers, the JSDD-Orient Industry Collaboration Center for Human-Interactive Robotics Research in the Bunkyo Ward of Tokyo has designed an assisted suicide support robot with the face of an innocent, loveable cartoon-like bear to aid patients in self-euthanasia named SeppuKuma.

 

SeppuKuma, which loosely translates to “Suicide Bear” has robotic arms that are able to carry up to 80kg of weight, hands that are powerful enough to crush human bone

 

SeppuKuma also offers 23 very different methods one can choose to end their life, including Everlasting Sleep (lethal injection), Pillow Kisses (suffocation), Peaceful Breath (helium asphyxia) and Sleepy time Hug which is where the robotic bear strangles its partner until their pulse stops for 15 minutes. 

 

So yeah. This is now a thing. My prayers have been answered.

I imagine someone, some day, is going to sit in that thing to just "try it on" and someone accidentally hits the reset button on the back and it'll reboot and do a "diagnostic" of all 23 suicide programs.
