Three times the charm - New AMD CPU announcement + big Navi Teaser

Performance uplift seems good, but price hikes are too high.

I can get a 10700K + Z490-F for $499 right now

Considering the 3900X is already about 400 dollars, wouldn't be surprising its price dropped below that. They don't make APUs tho.

That's if AMD HAD went and follow their previous release price trend for the original Ryzen 7 as PX4 9600, P2X6 1090T and FX-8150 were all within the US$250-300 price range, and get a bump in core count.

Why not?

Missed this earlier. In short, I don't consider my Zen 2 system to be stable enough for something as important as gaming. I never got to the bottom of it after extensive testing and diagnosis including both reinstalls and swapping other hardware around. There is no pattern to it, sometimes it just decides it doesn't want to work any more. I suspect a contributing factor might be I'm using an X370 mobo with a 3700X. It would have been funny to put an RTX 3070 in it too...

YES

3900x and 3950x prices will drop in the used market after this which make it a good deal for productivity and workstation users.

Very excited for benchmarks. Though I'm a bit disappointed that they increased the price of the 6-core part. That's the one I was eyeing. Maybe I go the 8 core part now

Single core performance looking real promising.  5900x and 5950x beat out the 10900k.  I'm hoping this means they will finally be superior in gaming performance than Intel.  Might be going Red team CPU next upgrade!!

I'm hoping the prices come down a bit after launch, I don't like the price increase but the gain in performance is quite large, AMD is pretty confident in their product to be raising prices.

And going with a 10700K you'd have to add another $100 for cooling.

Hahaha, to all those people that constantly told me that AMD wouldn't dare raise prices....🖕

Told you. You can expect the same with the GPU line; if their performance is close to Nvidia, they'll price it as such.

Am I the only one that found it odd that they said an average of 20-something% increase in gaming (I think almost 30), yet there were only a couple of titles that saw that much of an uplift? The rest of the newer titles seemed to hover a lot lower. At least it's better, though.

Seriously, that’s intel pricing. I’m just going to stick with my 3800x until they become reasonably priced.

I mean. What does one expect when they "take the performance crown"? They are a company, after all.

I mean, at 1080p on DX11 titles, maybe. I'm waiting to see 1440p benchmarks, as well as a wider range of titles tested.

It'll be interesting to see how the 10600k compares to the 5600x.

That's true, but in order to get the most of a 5800X you'll probably want better cooling too.

Not when it comes to gaming or single threaded tasks, in any way shape or form.

Yeah considering the TDP is higher, i'm wondering how sufficient the stock cooler is going to be, if AMD is even going to include one with their X cpu's.

I find it disgusting how many people here are crying about price and you can see in their signatures that they have Zen 2 chips. You being too poor to upgrade every gen doesn't mean prices are too high.

Prices are completely fine.

"Performance crown" doesn't matter as much to me when the last generation will have almost 0 difference in gaming outside of 1080p. The biggest thing for AMD will be OEM integration as all the tech reviewers shove the 5950x into their "ultimate gaming pc" circle jerk setups.

This could be correct.  Current AMD stock coolers are near or below 100w.  They’re going to need something bigger for 150w if they want people to use stock coolers on them.  They might have one though.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

according to their website a cooling solution is only present in the 5600x (much like the 3000XTs that only included with the lowest model).

fyi, the 5800X doesn't come with a thermal solution like the 3800X used to. However the 5600X, does, and hopefully so will the 5700X. Also below you can see the design of the CPU box.

Oh.

Honestly at this point a 10700K + mobo ($499 bundle deal on newegg) + cooler is a better deal
