Ah.. I was gonna get a 5800x but I'm not going to spend 450 bucks on it. That's such a huge fucking jump damm. That's sad... 299 for a 5600x is also pretty high.. but a bit more in line with what I would want to spend on a cpu.. guess I wont be getting an 8 core cpu then.

Some will no doubt.  I Do see a certain amount of that.  My machine is much older than merely last gen.  What I keep or don’t myself is dependent on other factors I have little control over, have nothing to do with tech, and are not yet even determined :/ it’s quite frustrating really.  It’s not yet even 100% clear that 4/8 will need tossing out.  Getting close to that though timing is still fuzzy.  I think any 4/4 or higher system will still retain some value for non-gaming purposes. It just doesn’t take much to run a browser.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Watched the entire Premiere, yeah, no, AMD just went full Intel being greedy and stagnating. Looks like I'll be holding on to my 6700K until either I saved up for 10/11th gen Intel, or AMD surprised me with a 12-core APU for US$350.

3700X was also 65W TDP. I'd take the small hit to clocks if it means both lower power overall and a lower price. The cost of that final bit of MHz is not worth it to me. The pricing is leaving me thinking what my best CPU option is now for my 3080 gaming build (no, I don't expect big navi to be viable).

Meh.  We’ve heard for nearly a year that intel was unlikely to have anything competitive till at least rocket lake.  That prediction is quite old.  It was also shown that intel could easily survive that.  They’re merely not doing better than expected is all. 

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Considering the 3900X is already about 400 dollars, wouldn't be surprising its price dropped below that. They don't make APUs tho.
