What are the most trustworthy component manufacturers with good customer service?

GamerBlake

Which companies would you say were known for high quality products and great customer service when it comes to computer components? 🤔

There are so many different manufacturers it would be nice to know which ones are safe to buy from without worry.

This can vary greatly depending on your location (largely due to consumer protection laws in different countries).  If you're in the US, Canada or the EU its highly unlikely you'll be left out to dry.  I've personally only had to RMA some stuff from Corsair and Dell, both were good experiences.  That said you can also find people in the comments telling you they've had a terrible time with almost every company so it is hard to figure out who is actually good.

Also, I've seen some truly horrendous customer service posts about Corsair in the past.

OP- Whatever you do, if you buy an Asus product, hope it never breaks and you have to RMA, as while there will probably be some fantastic service for people occasionally there, they are the 1 company who I always see posts complaining about RMA times, and problems and generally Asus being dicks.

I should add, it will likely depend on where you are having to deal with the customer service. There was a post recentlyish on here about Gigabyte USA absolutely sucking with an RMA, but their UK service centre seems to have a pretty decent reputation.

I used to praise Asus, but my X370 Crosshair Vi Hero was a hot piece of garbage and the RMA process was extremely painful, I had to send the motherboard back twice. I still bought a new X470 Asus board because I'm a blind sheep, and I personally think their premium motherboards are some of the best. Of the 8+ Asus motherboards I owned my X370 was the only one with issues. All my Asus GPU's have been rock solid as well.

Other than that Corsair products and the RMA process (one ML fan and a set of Vengeance LED memory) with them have been the best. Little to no issues with their products and when it goes wrong it seems so much easier to go through the RMA process than any other brand I've used. And the products have great warranty, at least the products I have bought.

EVGA GPU's  have been great for me, I've had 6+ cards from them with never having to RMA one. And the PSU's I have had have also been great but they were all premium units. I have heard bad stories about some of their lower end PSU's.

I've had bad experiences with MSI and Cooler Master via the usual BS RMA process with both of them.

A lot of these answer are going to be biased based on experience and people tend to just have favorite brands. I try not to be brand loyal, but I know for some things I would rather just buy what I like/know.

This is totally up to personal experience.

Ive been treated well by Gigabyte, bequiet!, Asus, and Fractal very well over the years in terms of PC components.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

As an example, some of the components I can remember in my personal rigs over the past 12 years or so have gone:

Motherboards - Asrock (Socket 775 - can't remember the model), Asus Rampage II Extreme X58, Gigabyte Sniper G1 (I think) X58, EVGA X79 SLI, EVGA X99 FTW, Gigabyte B450i Aorus Pro Wifi. They all still work (including the shitty cheapo Asrock from 12-13 years ago that was about $50 brand new) except the Asus Rampage II Extreme, which died an unholy death about 10 days after the warranty expired on it and was also the most expensive of all of them.

I've never had a GPU die, I've personally had a Zotac, a Palit, and 3 or 4 others that I can't remember the brand of that all still worked last time they were used and all significantly outlasted any warranty they had, with the exception of the Zotac card as that still has about 2 years of the 5 year warranty left on it but is still working perfectly.

PSUs - I had a Coolermaster 1000W unit that went bang and let out the magic smoke after a few years. My current PSU is an EVGA Supernova P2 850W that I've had for probably 4 years or so that still works perfectly. Can't remember what the others were and there was one that died too, but it was probably a shit one as I don't even remember the brand.

RAM - I've had some no name, some Hyper X, some OCZ, some GSkill Trident Z. All still work, except the OCZ which I could never get to work reliably in the system I had at the time, and they basically went bankrupt around then too.

SSDs - All that I've every bought still work. Samsung Evo 840 1TB, OCZ Agility 3 240GB, Toshiba 240GB (can't remember the model), Crucial BX200 (I think) from a random black friday deal on Amazon years ago, and I currently have a Sabrent Rocket 1TB gen 3 NVME in my iTX build.

Peripherals, I'm generally a fan of Logitech mice as the general shape fits so nicely in my big ass hands, but they do also make some crap products too, but of the ones I've had, all are still good, as is my old ass G110 Logitech keyboard that I've never bothered to replace as it fails to die.

Ah those kind of companies:

Motherboards: Gigabyte and Asus are the only companies I go with. They are the some of the big ones but have been reliable.

Graphics cards: EVGA - I only buy EVGA when buying nvidia. They have had me as a customer for the past 10 years. They got me as a customer back in 20009(?) with a GTX 260 that literally caught fire. Ever since then their customer service and warranty services have been steller and top noch.
Sapphire or Asus - For AMD. Just had good experiences.

Power supplies - Seasonic only. They make good stuff (I only buy the quality PSUs) and the last a long time. Some of the best ones on the market still. Every one I have installed is still work (30-40 of them) and not a single one has failed yet.

Cars - Subaru. My car dealer has kept good care of me and really only have to put oil, gas and service the car. Never been stranded, never had dumb issues in the 7 years I have had a Subaru. They are great!

Computer Brands - Recently HP. Their customer service has really come along way. Their newer machines are slick, really nice, feel great and have high build quality. What more could you ask for?
Apple - Yes. Main reason, I prefer the OS. Overall have had a very posititive experience. Keep liquid away and don't break the screen. Their phones are reliable and hold their value. Despite what people say, they do make a great product.

Be sure to @Pickles von Brine if you want me to see your reply!

EVGA is known for great customer service. I've personally never owned an EVGA product that I've had to RMA.

I can speak to a very positive experience with Logitech's support for a headset. The RMA was basically no questions asked on a refurbished product I'd had for almost 2 years... I usually get Logitech peripherals these days, just based on that.

PSUs are a different kettle of fish, since if it fails it can bring down everything in your system or burn down your house.  Really any company like Seasonic, EVGA, Corsair, FSP etc. are going to have good PSUs, and the peace of mind that your system is safe if definitely worth the $50 or whatever the premium is.  For more info check out the PSU Tier List.

Hard to pick a power supply based on the brand. They can have models ranging from cheap garbage to $500 top tier stuff.

EVGA as an example sells both the T2 which is an extremely high end power supply available in 1600w model with 80+ titanium efficiency rating (the highest) and is rated for 50°C operating temp... but they also have the N1 400w which is worse than most no name brand power supplies you'd get off AliExpress, fails to meet even the lowest efficiency standards, lacks aPFC, and is only rated to operate at 25°C - it's so bad that it really shouldn't be sold at all, let alone by any company willing to put their name on the label.

So there's no point asking which power supply brand is reliable because they all have a mix of good PSUs and not so good power supplies.

The LTT forum has a PSU section ("cases and power supplies"). If you're unsure what to buy, ask. Lots of people there who can help you pick a suitable power supply. Post a thread with your system specs and your budget and ask what power supplies you should consider.

Commenting on after sales support is a bit of a different matter. That will vary greatly depending on who you ask what their experience was, what their issue was, what their expectation for resolution was, and can even come down to the individual support staff person they dealt with.

Someone who has a power supply make a click noise when the system turns off ringing up support expecting a refund will probably be disappointed when they're told it's the normal sound of a relay switching and it's not an issue. That person might be pissed and start tapping away on their keyboard how bad the company is and warning people not to buy from them.

On the other hand someone with a 6 year old power supply who lost their receipt might call up expecting there's nothing the company would do for them may end up getting a replacement unit sent out, and since their old one would no longer be in production they would end up with a newer, equivalent or better model. Woohoo! Upgrade! They might even offer to cross ship (send the new unit before the old one is returned) and that person would be extremely happy from the experience and become a fanboy telling everyone to only buy from that company because they're the best.

Same company but the customers went in with different issues, different expectations of resolution and ended up with vastly different experiences.

My recommendation would be keep it simple. The reputable brands are reputable for a reason. At a minimum they'll comply with any local consumer protection laws and the company will probably still exist in 5 years time if you do end up needing to make a warranty claim.

Another vote for EVGA here, you generally hear nothing but praise for their customer service and probably 90% of their products are easy to recommend with the exception being lower end PSU. Id like to say corsair as well but I am admittedly a fan boy of corsair so my opinion is bias
