Blueberry Pi's final upgrades? +Battle Station Completed

My girlfriend and I bought a house at the beginning of summer, which means a new office for me! I've been so busy so it has taken a while to put together, and plan. And not only that but Zen 2 launched! An upgrade I've been waiting for since June 2017 when I first got my R7 1700 and AMD promised of AM4 support through 4 generations of CPU's. So naturally this meant a new shiny R7 3800x and I decided to upgrade my RAM to a 32GB kit of Corsair Vengeance RGB LED Pro memory!

 

I was going to go for R9 3900x but caught wind of the 3950x, but decided to hold off for now. I think that will be the next upgrade for my main system. Dubbed Blueberry Pi, of course. Gen 4 Ryzen R9 4950x and a X670 motherboard? That with a new GPU would likely be my next upgrade in a 1.5-2 years, but that is more planning ahead than I normally do so who knows.

Gotta say though, the new Vengeance RGB Pro memory looks REALLY good, I just have it set to static blue but it's a lot brighter and aesthetically pleasing versus the blue LED Vengeance kit I had before. I thought it was a dumb upgrade but I needed 32GB of RAM in my work computer so I decided to just get the RGB Pro kit for this build, not regrets here haha. The big upgrade was going from my R7 1700 to the new R7 3800x. The 1700 was always great value, it was the first time an 8-core 16 thread CPU was available for less than $500 by a long shot. But first gen Ryzen was not that fun to be honest. I had tons of instability and motherboard issues for nearly a year, AM4 has come a long way since. Over the past year my system on my Asus X470 ROG Crosshair VII Hero (Wi-Fi) has been rock solid. I've maintained a steady OC of 3.9Ghz and had my RAM clocked at 3000Mhz. But this now looks lackluster compared to the 3800x, the high clocks and outright  performance gains seen in the 7nm die improvements are noticeable. I do a lot of high core workloads and the R7 1700 was already an improvement over the i7-6700k I was using before, but the 3800x is a new level. I am really happy with it and I can't wait to try and OC, right now everything is at stock.

The Dell IPS ultra-wide was a new purchase this summer as well, I replaced it with 2x 24" 1440p displays I had before. I also moved my mass storage (4x 8TB hard drives in Raid 10) from my i7-8700k + GTX 1080 system to a 4 bay external drive that can be seen behind the right side of my monitor.

 

Second PC (i7-8700k +GTX 1080) is getting moved into the Corsair Crystal 280x shortly, it will be setup as a permanent gaming PC with my new 4k TV.

Yeah I like these Bose speakers, they are actually really good, quality audio output without being to big.

Spent time today taking a few proper pics, I also re-routed a few cables and added some cable combs some of which will be removed once the cables are trained.

I think I'm going to custom loop this thing in the summer, it will also prevent me from being able to easily replace parts , so an upfront investment that will save me money in the long run haha. That said I personally prefer the look of my big air cooler, we will see! 

At the very least I am going to buy a second UW, probably the Dell AW3418DW.

I was going through some PC parts I am trying to get rid of, and I found another ML140 that I thought I misplaced when I moved. So I decided to swap the second 120mm cooling fan on my Cryorig R1 for the 140mm, and added the 120mm to the top as an additional exhaust fan. Wasn't necessary, but more so to complete the full blue aesthetics.

 

I had to adjust my fan profile though to maintain positive pressure, so for the most part my top fans are spinning at near idle, around 200rpm. 

 

Looks great though!

 

 

EDIT: My phone camera really does not pick up the intense blue light very well lol!

Update #..... sh!t i've lost count.

 

Added a second 34" UW, the Asus ROG SWIFT PG348Q, a 100HZ IPS G-Sync panel. In truth I wanted the new Alienware AW3420DW but at $1,700cad rupees, no thanks, I can wait. The PG348Q was a crazy good certified open box deal, only $650, so this felt like a no brainier.

 

Ever since I got my Dell U3419W I wanted a second UW, but this time round it had to be 100Hz+ and IPS, so the PG34 ticked all those boxes. The only downside is that the curvature is less than that of my U3419W, but a true first world problem and since the top monitor is tilted down they would not be perfectly line up regardless.

New silicon! R9 3900XT, this will help shorten render times and my R7 3800X is going into my new ITX Build.

I nearly went for an R9 3900X however it has been cheaper in the past and at $629cad I decided the extra $45 was worth it for the 'XT' IMO. I am basically betting on better silicon quality. Regardless I am okay with that, reviews seem mixed some of the XT's can boost even higher with PBO enabled, others not so much over their non 'XT' counter parts. But I have decided I want avoid any Beta bios BS with my X470 motherboard, and with this system I will not go with 4th gen Ryzen. My motherboard has been rock solid stable and in the past I have effectively bricked motherboards with a beta Bios, not worth the risk.

 

The R7 3800x is going on an Asus B550I and if I want I can upgrade the CPU for that system (4th gen). Which I am hoping to do, the ideal would be an R5 that boots higher as it will just be used for gaming, that way the 3800X can go in my SG13 system, on my B450I motherboard as I use that system for work.
