What are y'all upgrading this holiday season?

Yeah but at that point why not get X470? It's cheaper and just as compatible.

X470 boards are hard to come by from where I'm from unless I order them online. The local shops rarely have them nowadays and everyone's jumped to x570.

Woah long quote Dizmo.....

I would feel bad to sell this thing.  It's in a cheiftec dragon case.  Lol...  my fave...   plus it's a biostar motherboard. has the biostar disease... cold boots are awful..  they can't get the bios right. I don't think tb85 is technically compatible with rx580. I mostly have to work with junk anyways.  I see  alot of core 2 duos that i swap to core 2 quads for people. Put an ssd in.  Put in a better gpu, and upgrade their ddr2. lmao......  I'm still happy with an i7 4770s. I have been tempted to get a new board, cpu, and ram... part of me doesn't care about jumping to ddr4.

Multiquote is a wonderful thing (when it works...*nudge nudge* @colonel_mortis ?)

Haha, yeah I'd never get something from Biostar. They used to be decent...but that was ages ago.

Oh it was a bit on the expensive side, around US$200, but i think its going to be worth it.

The left side panel is a thick tinted 4mm glass panel, the right side panel is a steel panel with a mesh intake for more SSDs over on that side as well, it even has a carrying handle on the top (which i also needed).

I really wanna make that SSD array on the side as well, hopefully with fancy SSDs like the Team Delta Max RGB.

How's the carrying handle attached to the case? When I saw that I kind of laughed. Unless it's heavily integrated into the frame, it just seems like disaster waiting to happen.

Dooo it! Do it for me! I can barely justify buying a 1TB SSD ? I have an 800GB right now and it still has almost 200GB free.

Haha, alas, neither of those are that common where I am. It's mostly pickups and cheaper cars. The 9-4x actually looks really nice though. Nice interiors too for a GM product of that era. With only 600 made though, talk about a needle in a haystack ? I checked cars.com out of curiosity...they're $14k US. So after import, it'd be about $21k CDN. The Q5s I've been looking at are about $16k...so for $21k it'd be chipped, with the custom stereo I want installed.

I just can't find anything for the $20k that'll give me the same features. AWD, cargo capacity, and 425HP.

I want to upgrade too, mine's getting real long in the tooth. I'm pretty sure I'll sell mine at least, but I don't know if I'll buy another. I don't really have a use for a laptop anymore.

Thanfully its firmly attached to the case, according to HardwareCanucks (they reviewed the old version, the CM Storm Trooper) the handle is rated up to 43kg.

As for the SSDs, i LOVE storage, i can never have enough because i'm a huge data hoarder, so the array wouldn't be useless either.

I want to go wireless for the keyboard too, but the battery life for mechanical keyboards just isn't there for me. When they get up to the 100 hour mark, I'll definitely invest. 4 years for a phone is a lifetime! If you're able to hold out though I would, new phones are only a few months from launch.

The keyboards I been looking at still have the option for wire when batteries run out.  Personally, I never had issue with my cheapo wireless I use on occasions, since it still on its batteries it came with.

Only reason I looking to upgrade is that phone is starting to show issues (if not for that, I go another two years with it or longer).  I'm not really interested in upcoming newer phones.  Instead, I will be looking at last year models for a deal.

I've been contemplating that for my rig update too. Some people say they really notice the difference...but most here say you wouldn't *shrug* Patt if me wonders if I'd even notice the difference with 144hz ? I noticed on the WAN show Luke said he doesn't, and I'm a lot older than him...

Gaming, nah.  I don't notice much difference between my SSDs and NVMes.  Moving a lot of data around.  A NVMe is great for that.

Myself, I can't tell the difference much between 120Hz or 144Hz, so I leave my monitor at 120Hz.  Plus, I play at 4K mostly, so I can rarely hit that high enough fps to warrant bothering to OC the monitor to that.

In mean time, I'm gong to pick up a Prusa Mini for my foray into 3D printing either this weekend or some time next month.

My gtx 770 really need to go. I have no idea what to pick to replace it. The rest of the rig will live to see another year (at least). My 4770 is still not too much of a bottleneck for my needs.

Yeah, that just kind of kills the point for me. If I have to set up a cable to use it, or to charge it frequently, I might as well have it plugged in all the time.

For my future rigs I'm a little torn between 75hz 38" or 144hz 35". Decisions decisions.

I'm looking at ones that have AA battery slots.  That way I can use rechargeable batteries and just have some on hand to just smack into it.  I do so with my wireless mouse already.  But, I understand that other folks are not into wireless.  I just find it more of ease of use as I can use one keyboard/mouse for my desktops, tablets, and laptop.

Indeed. Sadly the 970 can't run latest games like Battlefield V well anymore. Especially with Cyberpunk 2077 coming out next year, I need to upgrade.

Well that seems somewhat risky. I'm often watching streams and it makes me wanna game. What if you are watching your favorite streamer and suddenly wanna play a game? What if you change your mind? How can you be so certain you never want to game again yet still want to watch other people game? Seems like a very generous and risky gift. I've gone through periods where I don't feel like gaming but never crossed my mind I would not come back to the point where I would sell/giveaway my gaming components

Just install Steam on her computer and login with your account, so you can do (in-home) streaming in case you do want to play a game!

But sounds good @Teddy07.. Personally I am kind of done with many games too - only occasionally firing up some games to play for 30 minutes to be done with.

I have noticed mainly 'competitive games' make me.. Not feel good about myself. So racing games (against bots or my own times) are alright with me - but no shooters and such..

Although if you have a game you're looking forward to (e.g. Red Dead if that is your thing, or an upcoming entry in the far future like Elder Scrolls 6) it might be worth it to at least arrange that you can loan it for a month!

I'm pretty happy with my actual setup, but may look into a new case (although I'm a silent PC kind of person, so need to find one that I like the look of and has sound dampening, and Ideally an inverted mobo so I can see inside).

Also, my lighting. Thankfully LED lighting is ridiculously abundant and cheap.

Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe an RGB keyboard too ?

Well, I have just upgraded my i5 3550 to an R5 3600 (along with all the goodies in my profile).  But I am seriously considering tackling my pro audio gear.  Currently I have enough gear to do small parties, weddings and pub gigs with the band.  But I have got this itch to go spend up on a mini LA rig for small field events and festivals.    I was thinking somewhere around 10Kwatts, 4 a side LA and 4 Subs centre fill.  Maybe a new console as well.  But the reality is I'll probably get cold feet on that.

would reccomend to get the oneplus 7t pro.

it doesn't have a notch and the back camera looks better than the op7t

personally i'm looking to get a thin laptop with a 16 series card for school and games that don't require my 2080 setup at home
