What are y'all upgrading this holiday season?

dizmo

I hope to upgrade a few things. My self confidence and my body. I'm thinking of getting a nice(ish) electric trimmer to replace the very old and terrible one I have and I'm considering getting a Fitbit versa 2(or lite) which would hopefully encourage me to exercise more. Maybe even get my license and a job before the year ends.

Spoiler

My system is the Dell Inspiron 15 5559 Microsoft Signature Edition

if prices drop just a lil i am gonna buy a cooler master HAF XB EVO (i participate in many lan partys)

Nice, that case is pretty big to transport to and from LAN parties though ;) Might want to take a look at the TU150, though that'd increase the cost of the motherboard some.

I also wouldn't get that PSU, have you checked out the PSU tier list?

That's a horrible decision. A bad PSU can take out the rest of your system.

its not my credit card limit really, i dont make enough to drop 1000-2000 dollars on a pc, ive toyed around for a while and this looks good for how much money i have

if it was just a psu i was buying, i would not go as cheap as i am

well for one, cases can be free, if not very cheap like $20 new

but I wouldnt skimp and cheap out on the psu

why do you require 1TB of m.2 storage?

cant $50 of 7200rpm hdd work for 1tb?

3600 memory would be better, and look at the Viper Steel, very good value there, $5 more!

i like your 2600 choice, its a value buy!

I'd honestly look into your mobo choice a little more.

Gigabyte B450M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard

gigabyte is a good brand, with a good bio, but that name ds3h doesnt ring a bell nor come with confidence but it is cheap

the way to go with cheaping out is this

buy a decent mobo, get the 2600 and cheap out on everything else

go with 8gb of ram if you have to, $20 case, 500gb hdd

there are so many ways to go about it

I want to get rid of my Asrock motherboard, as I found out recently the top PCIex16 slot is broken. Still on the fence on whether to get the Tomahawk MAX or a X570 like the Asus Prime.

Or I might just buy the RX5700 instead.

Don't get tomahawk max and rx 5700, had the same combi and there were compatibility issues.

Having just upgraded, I'm both delighted and dissapointed in different areas.

Loading times are still a bugbear tm, even throwing samsungs finest at it wont get you around some things use a huge amount of ram.

Took a bunch of advice on saving money on the motherboard. Protip. Do not save money on the motherboard. I've spent as much as a proper upgrade on expansion cards for USB-C and various adapters to make it not worth it.

Runs Quake good though.

Eh, cheap cases feel significantly worse, you can bend or even break them by simply twisting the wrong way, they come with poor fans and have bad airflow.

People overlook cases but they play a much bigger part than most think.

I, personally, would never use an HDD in my system and fully endorse the 1TB SSD ?

AsRock and MSI are the only really good B450 motherboards. The rest have pretty bad VRMs.

500GB hard drives never make sense, they're usually only a couple dollars less than a 1TB...

I am pretty much completely content. I would like a high refresh rate monitor but, not sure I want pay $200+ to go from 60hz to 144 though especially when I do most of my gaming on a 75hz 1080 display on my other system.
