Going for a full replacement of my Ryzen 1600 this year.

Ryzen 3800x

Gigabyte x570 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi

32 MB DDR4 3600mhz cl16 RAM

2TB HP EX950 Nvme drive

Lancool II Case

Corsair RM850x PSU

I am still stuck on a few things though my cooling solution and GPU.

For cooling I keep going back and forward between the Arctic Freezer 34 Esports Duo or a Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240.  I know the AIO will give me better cooling but I am still unsure about the reliability of liquid cooling and kind of like the worry free option offered by Air cooling. I also don't that having better cooling than the Arctic Freezer 34 Esport Duo will get me much  from a performance standpoint since I would have 3 x 120mm intake fans front, with 2 x 120mm top and 1 x 120mm rear as exhaust if I go that build.  I could go for a better air cooler but feel dual tower designs overpower the case too much so wanted decent performance in a compact package, hence the Esports Duo.  Got both options ordered so will probably make my decision when I actually build the PC based which option fits and looks best in my case.

For the GPU I am really stumped.  I almost feel I have to have 2080 ti to get the performance I want to see out of my machine on the most demanding AAA titles like RDR2 and Metro Exodus but the price of $1000+, is a bit ridiculous when you consider it only gets about 30% greater performance than something like a $400 5700 XT or $500 2070 Super.  Then there is the fact that the next gen cards from AMD and NVidia are probably going to release in the next 3-6 months which might drive the 2080 ti prices/performance levels down to something more reasonable or give me another 15-20% performance for  the same $1000+. Because of that I might just stick with my Vega 56 until the next gen comes out.

NM, I guess I didn't read all of the post or go over it too fast. Was understanding you will do the MC server with a second hand 66k and so on or buy them for the server.

Intel, although pretty much second to AMD now, second hand market or overstock market that never sold of a couple gen back is a bit overpriced as all thing intel especially second hand one of past few gen.

Upgraded my triple monitor setup from 2x Acer 27" (75hz 1440p) and 1x 24" BenQ (60hz 1080p in portrait) to dump the BenQ and added an AOC Curved 27" (144hz, 1440p).

Then I bought a new 2019 nVidia Shield TV Pro, and a mini 128GB USB3 flash drive for expanded storage on my existing Shield TV, and some electric socket timers so that my xmas tree lights and some lamps switch on/off at random times within a specified time frame (set the timer to start at say 5pm and off at 1am, and it will randomly start stop within 30 mins, either side of that time) so I can make the house look in use over the holidays whilst I'm away sipping scotch by a roaring fire, or in the hot tub... please snow.. I've always wanted to sit in a hot tub in a snowy landscape on xmas day.

I also had a new hand built fence  put up outside my house... that was very expensive but makes my property look so much better, will look even better in the spring when I do some gardening and planting.

Then I was given a dishwasher for the kitchen by my sister as she was moving home and their new place had an integrated one.. So I ripped out a 1000mm base unit, fitted a 300mm one and plumbed it in... never done any plumbing before and had to adjust some pipework, fit a new dual waste pipe adapter and a cold water Y splitter... But it all works and a £300 dishwasher was free and so far it's cost me about £90 for the smaller cabinet and plumbing parts... Now I have to go out and buy a load of new cutlery as mine isn't suitable for a dishwasher and grab some extra cups/plates and other bits and pieces... Because it's a large 12 place dishwasher and with it just being little old me at home most of the time... I quite literally don't have enough stuff to fill it fully without running out of things to eat and drink from.  :) So I figure another £100 or so for all that... gonna splurge on some nice quality stuff (white of course because that goes with anything, patterns and colours can become redundant if you change other colours in a house). But even after all that... still cheaper than buying a brand new dishwasher myself (which would still involve all of the extras anyway).  Doesn't make my kitchen look any better as it needs redoing properly... but that's a few yrs down the road as I plan on doing the whole of the downstairs, knocking down walls, re jigging rooms, taking out old chimney breast as well as a whole new kitchen, electrical and plumbing work... which is gonna cost about £15k... and it's gonna take me a couple of years to save up that without stopping me buying anything else or treating myself to little things here and there (games, toys, trips out and so forth)

All of my xmas shopping has been done, wrapped and put in pretty like xmas bags for everyone... I've got a little bonus coming this month (only £180) with another bonus in Jan (around £700)... So I'm going to be browsing the sales over the next few weeks for stuff that I know I won't be getting over xmas... Maybe the odd game on Steam or GOG if it takes my fancy.

But in Jan.. I've got the quandry of do I rebuild my media server or not. It's running windows 7 Pro and that OS is EOL in Jan... but I really hate Win10 on my new system and have to mess around locking it down so that updates are on my terms, no shitty MS account and all of the telemetry crippled as well as MS store, cortana and so forth.

If I decide to rebuild.. I repurpose my current build (B450, R5 2600X, 32GB DDR4 3200mhz) for that and buy some new shiny for me... X570 (because no B550 boards are out yet), 3900X and I've already got 32GB DDR4 3200mhz sat in the draw as I had 64GB already and only ended up using 32GB in this one.

It's been a great few weeks... sadly... those kinds of splurges are kinda rare.

System 1: Gigabyte Aorus B450 Pro, Ryzen 5 2600X, 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz, Sapphire 5700XT, 250GB NVME WD Black, 2x Crucial MX5001TB, 2x Seagate 3TB, H115i AIO, Sharkoon BW9000 case with corsair ML fans, EVGA G2 Gold 650W Modular PSU, liteon bluray/dvd/rw.. NO RGB aside from MB and AIO pump. Triple 27" Monitor setup (1x 144hz, 2x 75hz, all freesync/freesync 2)

System 2: Asus M5 MB, AMD FX8350, 16GB DDR3, Sapphire RX580, 30TB of storage, 250GB SSD, Silverstone HTPC chassis, Corsair 550W Modular PSU, Noctua cooler, liteon bluray/dvd/rw, 4K HDR display (Samsung TV)

System 3 & 4: nVidia shield TV (2017 & 2019) Pro with extra 128GB samsung flash drives.

I'm turning my current system into a NAS and using a case I've had on hand for a good while to build a new system, but it's not going to be anything special.  Ryzen 7 2700-based, enough of an upgrade over what I have just now (i7-3820-based), but not exactly earth shattering or budget breaking.

Not upgrading this season. I have stuff Id like to upgrade, but Ill probably wait till next year.

Id like to upgrade my Plex server, currently using my old i5 3570K gaming computer, I dont need a full ATX system like this to do the job. So really Id like to get something smaller and maybe more power efficient. Id also like to buy a new laptop. But I cant find one I seem to like. Or the ones I like are too expesive or are known to have issues.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Good choice! Too many people overlook peripherals and they greatly increase the experience of the entire system, not just gaming or just whatever else you do.

This Christmas hopefully I can get a new phone. Again, I'm in the same fucking boat as two years ago when I had to change my Samsung S5 (the battery didn't last shit, maybe 30 minutes of usage, even with a new one), the phones were huge and I decided to try the Huawei Mate 10 since the bezels were not that big and it had decent 16:9 screen ratio with front fingerprint sensor, but it had no OLED screen so it was a bit pain in the ass

Also, I missed the opportunity to unlock the bootloader and now I'm stuck with this horrendous ROM and bloatware

Now after 2 years, a broken screen (I can't find any cheap screen replacement, everything is for the Pro or Lite version) and tired of this huge and bulky phone, I'm looking for something compact. Maybe the Sony Compact but they don't have OLED display (something essential for me, since it adds more moooooore battery life with my dark themes), the XZ2 compact doesn't have headphone jack

This is a nightmare, every single phone is either Mediatek based, with a notch, not 16:9, at least 5.9", no headphone jack, small battery (<3300 mAh and somehow it could fit a bigger one but no, LeTs gO fUlL DoUBle cAmeRa, 100000 sensors and a few more shits), no OLED, etc

Maybe the S10e, which is the smallest phone I can get with the requirements but still, it's Samsung and I don't trust them (planned obsolescence everywhere), the volume buttons are on the wrong side and wrong height, the unlock button (also fingerprint sensor) is a bit too high for regular usage (and annoying to unlock it when the phone is on the desk), the camera hole is on the fucking wrong side too; but God bless it for headphone jack, type c, external storage (still fucking shit EU doesn't get the 256GB version), OLED, no bezels 5.7" (let's be honest, I'd rather get a smaller phone, like 5" with small bezels like the Mate 10 and front fingerprint sensor), bootloader can "easily" be unlocked and it has amazing custom ROM support, but the lack of snapdragon for EU market is shit

If you're only worried about OLED for the battery life, don't when it comes to the Compact phones. They still get better battery life than most because of their small size. Why do you want 16:9 so badly? I thought I'd notice when I switched, but I haven't, and honestly I don't think I'll go back. Mah capacity doesn't always tell the whole story either btw. Tons of phones out there with huge capacities that get much worse battery life than phones with smaller ones. I'm not sure what you're going on about planned obsolescence either, Samsung is no different than any other phone manufacturer. Have you ever tried using a larger device for longer than a day or two? You adapt to them quite quickly.
