Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

Anybody has any experience with LS2 helmets in colder ridding in terms of fogging up, and long terms use?

Been looking around, seems like they are the cheapest option in terms of a minimum EAC certification, going Snell would be CL-17, but that adds up to 180 with the pin-lock add-on and neck shield thingy, might as well get something in that price range at that point

I've never owned a pinlock visor, but they are helpful. I use an anti-fog spray that's been pretty good, the only problem I have is remembering to re-apply it when I get a new visor.

My Current Setup:

AMD Ryzen 5900X

Kingston HyperX Fury 3200mhz 2x16GB

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

EVGA RTX 3060 Ti XC

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

Both sound like great options
Id go audi, maybe try to get the 2.0 tdi with some S-Line bits to make it more "fun". But i bet the 595 would be the more overall fun car out of the box. But i am a fan of practical cars, so id personally go for the A3 hatch not sedan ?

well since i mostly drive to and from work with i have no need for practicalities. and i can stand the look of the a3 hatchback. the way that last window sits behind the rear door idk. the 2 door hatch looks fine but i still prefer the sedan. yeah the idea would be to either get the 595 with sabelt bucket seats or get the a3 with one of the nicer steering wheel options and their s series inspired sport seats. oh and abarth has black roof lining by default with audi you would have to get a proper s or rs for that and those get way more expensive. just as a side note.

I've looked at using the software for my 2.0 HDI and its a little scary that it might brick and then I'd need a new board, which is too much for the price of the car lol, and usually the gain I would get would just be from 136hp to around 160-170hp. Not exactly a speed machine but you'd probably get a better boost on the Audi.

well playing with the ecu if dont know what youre doing always has that that risk. if by board you mean the engine ecu then dont understand what you mean by the price of the car. also a jump from 136hp to 170 just with software is pretty steep. yeah the audi probably has the bigger turbo but size aint everything the small turbo on the abarth kicks in earlier. but yes the audi would certainly be better on the top end for long autobahn drives but i think the abarth might be more fun to throw around the corner in between villages here.

But I really love the Abarth. Those small cars with more powerful engines are just so fun to drive (Drove a Yaris for a while and that was really fun). It probably comes down to how far you drive to work, if its a long drive, maybe the diesel is better, and just suck up the cost for an ECU tune (probably waaay cheaper to get them done where you live!). Yeah I guess if its for work its probably best to get the more comfier choice . . :(

well my current dirve to work is about 40km but thats not always the case but taht would be about the maximum id ever have to drive to work so idk if diesel is really neccessary. but i do like the idea of taking roadtrips for vacation and for that a diesel would be better. but is that so important to me that id tolerate the diesel the 340 other days of the year? idk probably not. i think to me its more a question perception and image. do i wanna be grown up and professional or do i not give a fuck about other peoples opinions and let the inner child in me be happy :D

nah for the money theres way cooler options. the abarth 500series doesnt belong in that price range. its totally fun for the normal comps and turismos but bipostos while awesome are just too pricey. even if i had the money lying around id rather get something else.

also the amount of carbon fiber aftermarket upgrades is ridiculous. you can outfit your abarth 595 with more carbon fiber options than an actual ferrari has.

As do a lot of abarths lol, this isn't a daily driver with a dog box.

Straight cut gears are super easy to make, and are usually stronger than most. Just depends on the manufacturer, 8.500 is pretty cheap for a dog box so... But even if it breaks I'm sure it's easy to upgrade as most are. I doubt mini actually makes it for that cheap due to R&D costs.

Yesterday I finished the front upgrade on my R33 GTS-T suspension.

I replaced my old Tein NR coilovers with Tein Flex Z's and set them about an inch lower than my NR's were.

I also replaced the upper camber arms, lower control arms and the tension rods with adjustable arms from Driftworks.

Im working this weekend but on Monday will be finishing the rear coilover install, rear traction rods, rear camber arms and hicas eliminator kit all from Driftworks as well.

Then R33 needs to go for an alignment. All the arms are rod ends so should be a fairly stiff ride when its all done!

Sorry couldnt do any pictures installed since it was about 9:30pm last night I finished and was dark :P

A little something I've had for a long time now, since Jan 97 to be exact.
It had been sitting for a few years when I finally decided to either do something with it or forget it - So I did something. The pics show what shape it was in before the work was done  and after, wasn't a pretty sight at the time work began but turned out well.
More work to be done but right now it's miles better than before.

Basic specs:

4.3 Ltr V6, 5-speed trans

Porche Cayenne Turbo S 1st gen - Looks fun

Those are some famous last words there. These cars aren't known for value or reliability new. I'm sure they are bound to be worse on the used market.

I have no recommendations for your summer car, but I might suggest a 2004-2006 Subaru Impreza (not the STI model) for a winter car. They are available pretty cheap in extremely good condition, they have cheap and easy repairs, they are reliable, people think they're cool, and with just a little bit of practice you can have some serious fun driving one on low traction surfaces, like back roads in winter.

By not getting the STI model, the car is waaayyyy cheaper so you can bash the car a little more without feeling guilty about it, but if you decide you want a nicer car, you can build one up to be the same as or better than the STI model, possibly cheaper than buying an actual STI model.

ENCRYPTION IS NOT A CRIME
