The debt crisis in Greece has been all over the news this week, filled with criticism for the mismanagement of its finances and polarized opinions of what to do next. 

In what is being hailed one of the most successful Indiegogo campaigns of all time, 29-year-old Thom Feeney has raised nearly 1.8 million to save Greece

He's trying to raise cash to help the Greek people make the 1.6 billion payment that Greece owed the IMF.

 

What happens if you don’t make the target?

All the money is refunded. Hopefully we’ll make it though!

 

 

I dont know how they can raise that much amount...even the €1,848,366 is almost 0%. Anyway good  luck...

I dont see why we should pay more? We (People who live in europe) already pay taxes, some of which went to greece in the bailout funds.

It is rather surprising how nobody seems to understand how Capitalism works. It is not only at a smaller level but at a larger level as well: Countries are supposed to go bankrup so that the central banks elsewhere can buy most of the country's real state and assets for pennies on the dollar. It has happened in virtually every single Latin American country at one point or another but somehow people think this is different because it's the European Union. It's the same thing except a tad closer to the banker's homes in Europe: most of the assets in the world are controlled by a handful of massively wealthy European bankers.

I'm not very up-to-date and reading everything but what i do know is that the gov says to everyone that their own people should vote against the EU, and if the people vote in favor of the EU and against it's gov, the current gov will be gone, and that's what i want.

If people stay in the EU their situation will never improve. It will be more passable, since they will have a bare minimum, above the poverty line standard of living. But it will also mean that the EU will basically own all businesses, all assets, all valuable real state. People will never have another chance of truly progressing as a nation and will become a nation of just workers and "service industry" and such. 

 

That's exactly what happened with all of the economical bail outs here in Latin America as I said. Everything went private, most local companies either died or were bought out by foreigners, most people have to settle for service industry stuff no real innovation or benefits from manufacturing and producing goods anymore than a simple paycheck at all levels of the economy.

Because Goldman Sachs' boys came around, made up the numbers and fooled everyone into thinking we do not only qualify to get into the Eurozone, but they can also lend as a lot, because we can repay. BUT Germany and France knew about all this, but they still went on to give the damn loans. It is not just peoples' fault and it is not only Greek politicians that were corrupt and lead us to this shithole. It is the fucking bankers and politicians from other countries as well. And also, while the people in other countries pay with taxes to save us, their governments, the bankers and politicians are getting richer and richer from the ever increasing number of loans they give out PAID BY THE PEOPLE! We need to wake up guys...

It are the older generations that profited of the system. But the younger gens and their children and their children have to pay for it.

And its stupid to think that we have done enough for Greece as BE or any other EU-country by paying our taxes. You have to think about the international credebility of the Euro and if we're not able to save Greece, why wont countries like Spain do the same? Today might be one of the most important days in history of the EU.. And might even be the beginning of the end.

The world REALLY needs to outlaw usury (interest on debt). It's financial entrapment.

yea unfortunately with the IMF they enforce restrictions and ask the country to cut things like healthcare education etc. but without them greece is not going to make it so its a gray topic

Greece is currently in the "were fucked" position, more or less fubar unless they have some sorta major reformation in the politicians in their government. They got into the problem themselves and no amount of "Sending them money" will fix the fundamental problem here. 

 

Their "shite" economy is effecting the economy of other nations... the DOW here is fluctuating because of the "Greece scare" and that is a pain in the arse for us investors/traders. 

 

This "sending them money to fix their debt" doesn't guarantee the long term resolution of the problem, they need a reformation in their government themselves. Their government is corrupted with a bunch of tax evasion bullshit, heck even their anti-tax evasion tactics that they came up with had apparent loop-holes straight off the back.

 

EDIT: Dam politicians. A lot of people will say they don't like politics and that politics is a bunch of bullshit. Indeed there is a lot of bullshit in politics but disregarding it is just as bad. The people of the country need to participate in politics regardless if they like it or not if they are to steer the country in the direction they want to see it move to. Educating yourself about what's going on politically is very important for understanding what exactly is happening on many fronts in your country, such as what the economical position is, or what the social consensus is. Just saying oh politics is shit, and that the "country" is fucked is a cop out.
