. Either way Greece needs an extreme amount of reformation, whether they want to or not. Since 2008, they've done almost nothing. They could have fixed all problems by now, if they had.

By putting in place all the austerity measures that were imposed ? You do realize that all that the creditors wanted with their austerity measures are for them go get a profit out of the situation and they dont care at all about what happens in place? Austerity, decreasing spending doesnt really promote growth, which is what should have been the goal

Yeah you are clearly not in a position to criticize anything since you clearly have no idea of the situation. The amount of stupidity in your post shows exactly how ignorant people should not have any sort of political power or influence

That simply is not true. Most of the loans came from euro countries, to fix Greece's economy, and stabilize/strengthen the Euro. You don't give other people money without terms or it is just money out the window. Greece is in serious need of reformation. The Greek people are not adult enough to take responsibility, neither are their politicians, so the other EU countries are forced to, well force Greece to do so. That is the strings that comes with the loans. Not high interests to make money.

It is rather surprising how nobody seems to understand how Capitalism works. It is not only at a smaller level but at a larger level as well: Countries are supposed to go bankrup so that the central banks elsewhere can buy most of the country's real state and assets for pennies on the dollar. It has happened in virtually every single Latin American country at one point or another but somehow people think this is different because it's the European Union. It's the same thing except a tad closer to the banker's homes in Europe: most of the assets in the world are controlled by a handful of massively wealthy European bankers.

The thing with Greece is that they're part of the Euro. That means that all the Euro countries will be hit. And as a lot of the loans come from those Euro countries and will not be repaid, they get hit twice as hard.

This also affects the Dollar (Euro rate of exchange will go bad) and therefore the world economy. The Euro simply won't be able to buy as much as before.

 

Or in numbers, the Greek bankruptcy affects over 175 million people directly (Euro countries) and several hundreds of million people indirectly.

The Greeks have no one else to blame but themselves. If you keep electing a corrupt government you get exactly what you deserve and if you whine about a 8+ hour workday and a retirement age of 67 while your country goes down the drain you will not get any empathy from me.

 

I work more then 12 hours a day with no retirement age at all, or a government pension, and my country of residence is much more corrupt then Greece ever will be. But I am not whining, I roll up my sleeves and do something about it.

The world REALLY needs to outlaw usury (interest on debt). It's financial entrapment.

I have a student loan right now because I have no choice, and school is my only way out of the situation I am in. But after that, I will NEVER get a loan again. I don't care if I have to drive a shitty beat up used honda civic for ten years.

In lithuania we had a plan to open a nuclear reactor with the help of surrounding countries, it was all pretty much set, someone decided we need a referendum, started shouting referendum happened people are always afraid of anything nuclear, most people who have no idea too voted against and there we go we don't have a nuclear reactor. Rip electricity prices.

Some issues are created by the whole country. All of them had spending issues, I was surprised just recently how many greeks in the forum are building 2000 eur builds when the country is falling.

Some want to break everything up.

 

Ultimate result: Government spending doesn't fix things, so long as the majority of that spending comes as a result of borrowing. Raising taxes to increase spending, stagnates the economy because people have less money to spend at businesses, which results in companies cutting back employees because they "can"t afford the overhead (can't in this case means don't want to absorb a few percentage points lost from their profit margin) meaning there are even fewer people with money, meaning fewer people who can pay taxes.........and you've got the same problem again.

 

Moral of the story: You always run out of someone else's money?

This is some of the dumbest I've seen about economics in a LONG time!

 

Greece pretty much owes every single northern/western European, over 1000 $ each (Luxembourg 1814$ each at the highest) resulting in about 339 billion 18 million dollars in debt. And that is just for the euro countries. Then you have non euro countries, and even much much worse, the IMF.

 

If anyone thinks any crowdfunded thing is going to make any change, then they need to stop their SJW gender studies, and study something useful like economics.

 

Greece has made its bed, and now they get to lie in it.

First of all, if Greece falls the rest will likely fall as well: Albania, the Republic of Macedonia, even Italy and Spain might fall. The first 2 countries are neighbouring countries which aren't using the Euro but don't have strong enough economies. Greece "falling" might be the beginning of the end and making them sort out their political situation won't help the other countries (which exist) that have problems. Fun fact: Greece has more debt now, a few years later than when it started getting "support" from the European Union and the IMF.

Well i don't see the issue tbh.

The gov lended money they could never pay back, and when they realized they made a mistake it was already too late and they fell into a vicious circle.

Because if they tried to solve their unsolveable problem they created, it just became worse.

I don't see the problem, the gov looks clear to me the one to blame because they have, or had, the power to don't make it a problem in the first place by just not lending the money at all.

At least give me sources of the "other side" because i can't find them.
