I've noticed Linus does title changes with many videos, gotta get that YT clickbait money, just disappointing because it was promised they'd stop and use normal titles.

LMG has enough influence on other tech channels, they could easily set the trend by just having non-clickbait video titles.

Heh, there's a lot of other better sources for mobile reviews. I watch LTT iPhone and Android phone reviews for entertainment. I stick to MKBHD, Jon R, MrMobile, and Flossy for the real reviews. Linus phone review videos are all "Listen to me bitch about IOS for 20 minutes, even though I don't use it." or "New Galaxy phone is out, listen to me bitch about it too, but ultimately say I'm going to use it before I go to the closing sponsor spot".

Well he is a chrome user.  I’ve always felt chrome was more of a communicable disease than a useful piece of software.  Maybe it got into his brain.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

after seeing so many people i watch start using clickbait titles ive come to accept that clickbait is needed if they want to get views and get promoted by the youtube algorithm. also the same with ads ive come to understand that they need to make a living and ive gotten good at skipping them :P. i havent watched the video yet but ill watch it when i get home so idk if its just bashing on apple or just a clickbait title but in the past they had videos where they said good things about apple or even defending apple so i dont 100% agree with your view that they have a bias against apple.

This. And the same for cringy thumbnails with a big face, somewhere last year if I remember well someone made stats and found out that the algorithms favors that and they'd get a LOT more views with one - so everybody does it now.

 

Essentially Youtube or "the algorithm" indirectly decides what we should see...

I get it's clickbait so it doesn't bother me anymore, I don't care if they clickbait to piss off the google or apple fanboys, though it does annoy me a lot of channels use sponsored content videos or "showcase" vids disguised as a review.  I don't see why someone would need to abuse the clickbait algorithm when the sponsored content is more than keeping a living for that person or their entire company.

Because the revenue of the sponsored content, or the willingness of companies to choose you to do their sponsored content is obviously based on you getting as many views as possible. If a way to "game the system" is known then you'll be expected to use it if you want to continue being offered jobs.

Honestly people need to calm the hell down with video editing. I can bet you it's less than 1% of the population. Most people that are building computers are gamers. Not video editors.

I disagree that it's bias against Apple, but as far as everything else goes, I agree. Lots of us have stopped watching his videos. I think he's targeting a different (probably younger) demographic now.

 

I've switched to Gamer's Nexus. While it can b a bit too technical for me, all the videos are clearly labeled and there's never any clickbait. Honesty is very important to me.

You do realize his viewership is irrelevant right? That doesn't change the fact that, if you video edit as well, you're better off going AMD. That fact doesn't change because x% of his viewers are gamers.

 

Tell me, where in this video does it show AMD always on top in terms of performance.

This reviewer does a much better comparison of the cameras unlike a blanket statement that Pixel 4 is the best camera like Linus did in his video. At this point might as well be shilling for google. He even manages to gloss over the weakness of Pixel 4 camera in a couple of seconds and spends so much on some of very few areas where Pixel 4 camera is marginally better than iPhone 11. It seems like he took the worst result from the iPhone camera and the best result from the Pixel 4 camera and compared them to get a favorable result for the Pixel.

Take AMD Zen 2 release for example

we have a lot of techies out there doing their reviews, watch them all and make your own conclusion

 

same with any other products, or news, or learning. Don't just take from one source and then complain

I feel the script writing has changed so much that Linus has become ‘cheesy’, more of a character than a presenter. It feels more formal, dilute than before. It’s not necessarily anyone’s fault, just the way the channel has been going.

The thumbnails are something everyone does, but LMG could at least use some titles that aren't clickbait, channels such as GamersNexus,PaulsHardware, and Bitwit use honest video titles and they're putting out high quality content.

While LMG has 3 channels, plenty of sponsored videos, Floatplane does well and hosts content from other channels, and LTX which I doubt LMG is losing any money on,and the forum with ads. Using the clicks to get paid is fine, but using completely misleading titles or only changing the title after a bunch of people complain is not good at all IMO.

And then he proceeds to praise Pixel 4 on all ends. I was scratching my head most of the video as only good trait of it is a photo camera. And that's literally it. It runs on buggy software made by Google itself, too small battery for generally power inefficient Android with a forehead the size of Texas, ugly plastic toy looking design, ugly camera array flawed face authentication, gimmicky radar thing and to top it off garbage privacy practices coz it's Google after all.

 

In all honesty, I mostly watch LTT videos for entertaining purposes. If I need a serious approach to review I'll probably look elsewhere. And it's their own fault for being taken that way with clickbait nonsense and constant inconsistencies. People give shit to MKBHD for various things, but he seems more consistent across the board, don't see any serious bias and I like his "hey, this is my opinion on this device" than doing a forced "review"...
