  1. My main computer isn't supported, so I'll stick to W10 until I either upgrade the hardware or move to a different OS. Might upgrade my laptop sometime after the people 'beta test' the official release of W11, possibly by the end of the year, or beginning of next year.
  2. How do people not realise that they're driving without their headlights? Just passed two, the first one was on a dark road, how don't they notice that..

Thanks for calling me a idiot.

Recently it broke while I was on the road and normally you don't have those in the car for replacement. If it goes well you have on at home but not everybody does.

Not you, them. Turning the headlights on, even if they don't work, will at least turn the back lights on as well, that would at least alert people of their presence, especially on unlit roads. All of their lights were off.

Not only that. The park lights are also used which is by design so if the primary fails traffic still sees you.

      All lightS? O.o

At some point you notice it.

      turn signal: goes faster

      passing light: dashboard indicator

I think break light and high beam doesn't have a indicator. same goes for the parking light.

If there isn't one for the high beam I get it. From all the lights this is the least safety critical and you take notice. Why there isn't (always) a indicator for break lights? I don't get as those greatly enhance saftey.

  3. It's the final countdown Been a pleasure folding this week.
  4. I hope I'm not speaking too soon (knock on wood and all that), but it seems like my AC fixed itself. On the last day of the folding event..

If there's a God that controls the cold air that comes out of AC units, then they're a dick.

Ah, yeah. Sorry, it's apparently still a little too early for me 😄

At least it fixed itself, lol. Hopefully it lasts.

    Also, drink water, stay hydrated.

I haven't been this traumatized since Thor put on a beer belly and Mr. Bill went ultra instinct.

  6. Our university decided to take a mixed approach; some courses are in-person, but will limited capacity, while others are online. It's kinda hard to social distance during labs because the practicals are meant for groups. They're still open to the possibility that we might go back to full distance learning, so it appears that some braincells are still chugging along, perhaps working overtime.

  8. The way I understood it is that Apple lost, but Epic didn't necessarily win either.
  9. I get that, my question was are they developing those from scratch every time, or are just building up on the previous iteration, 'cause they're pointing at those and saying they're very expensive to develop, I'm sure it was, at first, but the cost of maintaining thema and adding to them is cheaper compared to starting from the bottom for every version. Also the smarter approach. I'm kinda adding to the point that software costs are relatively.
  10. It's easier for apple to do this due to the small configuration variety compared to windows. Are they developing the OS from scratch every time, or are they adding to an existing platform/framework? One's more expensive than the other. The same thing applies to first party apps.
  11. Folding event just started and now my AC doesn't work..

    Fuck you Daikin.

Worst part is, the people who installed it didn't do so properly (they put the whole unit in a bracket, instead of using the mounting points already available on the unit itself), so it needs at least 2-3 people to service it, 'cause we need to take out the entire unit, not just the tray (so, disconnecting the water line, refrigerant lines, cables and fan just to clean it.)

      Yikes. That sounds bad.

Haven't looked into it yet, but my guess is that something is slowing the water from draining. Not sure if the pipe is restricted again, or if the pump is failing or any other reason.

The last 2-3 times this happened was due to the water accumulating faster than it can be drained, so the water level sensor would stop the cooling until the level decreases.

It's intermittent, so it will cool for a short while (solid green light), then it'll stop cooling for a while (blinking amber light, the fan still works).

This is a ceiling unit, not a wall mounted unit.

  12. Yeah, this started on Sep 1st where I live. Kinda like a soft mandate; you won't get into legal trouble if you don't get it, but you also won't get into any government building, large shopping areas (malls, super/hypermarkets, etc.), schools, etc. For us though, you need at least 1 dose for now, they might bump that up and require 2 doses in the near future.
