AMD Readies 9 Threadripper models

As the title states , AMD readies 9 models for there upcoming Treadripper lineup

AMD, which announced its Ryzen Threadripper HEDT processor at its 2017 Computex show, closely followed by certain motherboard manufacturers' unveiling of their compatible AMD X399 chipset motherboards; is readying nine SKUs based on the dual "Summit Ridge" MCM. This includes 10-core (3+2+3+2), 12-core (3+3+3+3), 14-core (4+3+4+3), and 16-core (4+4+4+4) models, all of which have SMT enabled, resulting in 20, 24, 28, and 32 threads, respectively; full 64-lane PCI-Express gen 3.0 root-complexes; and full quad-channel DDR4 memory interfaces. Some of these models with the "X" brand extension feature XFR (extended frequency range), which adds 200 MHz to the boost clock, if the cooling is sufficient.

The top 12c chip has the highest base and boost.  I'd say its a premium tax for those that want/need the extra single thread jiggahertz beyond the other offerings.

Additionally I assume that AMDs yeild on silicon that hits 4.1 is best sold there instead of 16c for a number of reasons.

Despite this being 155W TDP, I think it will be actually easier to cool due to the huge surface area and all the heat spread across 4 dies.

I was thinking that aswell, also AMD solders the CPU which is an extra positive point on how those will thermally perform

Broadwell-E CPUs are 140W, I expect these to require around similar cooling, maybe a bit better because it's better spread around the IHS, but realistically you'll need a big air cooler like a NH-D15 or liquid cooling. But we will have to wait and see.

It would be the core count enabled in each CCX, that's how they explained Ryzen i.e. 2+2 for the 4 core model and 3+3 for the 6 core model.

That's what I'd be thinking, especially since there's a little bit of space between each die the cooling possibility should be relatively okay.

I kinda want 1955, I don't need 10c and a 8c more than enough, but I really want a HEDT platform.

Uhh the Threadripper will also have 4 dies, each having up to 4 cores each, like the Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 having two dies with up to 4 cores each.
