SaltTel - Apparently an 8th gen Core i3 is better than a 3rd gen ryzen

Fnige

Medium rare beef

Team blue is now claiming that the 3700U from AMD is worse than an i3-8145U

Quote

According to Intel, the Core i3–8145U (a dual-core chip) is up to 65% better than the newly launched Ryzen 7 3700U (a quad-core processor).

This slide from Intel claims that the Core i3–8145U delivers “longer productivity on the go”, offering up to 65% better overall performance. Where they got that figure is a mystery for the ages. Even in their own breakdown, the chip is supposedly 10–20% faster in tasks ranging from media editing to web-browsing.

It’s a shame Intel has resorted to such tactics despite the fact that their products are quite competitive. The Ryzen 7 3700U competes with the Core i5–8265U and it yes, it costs more but performs more or less the same.

Intel has to calm down. Thats all i have to say about this

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

It's not "3rd gen" Ryzen, at least not in any meaningful sense. The mobile 3700U is a Zen+ design, not Zen 2. AMD unfortunately copied Intel's old HEDT naming scheme meaning it appears to be a generation newer than the number suggests.

because it is undoubtably irrefutably not better? it may be in some VERY VERY specific tasks, but claiming that its "up to" 65% better in overall performance isnt just misleading, its flat out lying

You see all the superscript numbers next to those claims?  It's because they're backed up with fact.  The tests they use may be one sided, but the numbers aren't just made up.

Mobile is one of the places Intel has structural advantages because of development work. However, they did get that advantage by preventing AMD from entering mobile on several occasions.

Renoir next year is going to be really interesting, though it'll be forever before AMD puts a dent in Mobile.  Even with the win by getting into Surface devices.

marketing is not news. if we went through every single tech press release and made a news thread about it., all legit news threads would be buried under a sea of nothing

and i would argue that some of them don't actually belong in the news section when it amount to little more than a single powerpoint slide. Especially when data is misconstrude to show said product in the best possible light against a competitor with no other information about the product itself.

But hey, i dont run these forums.

EDIT: ALL comparison marketing is bullshit, give me the facts of your product as a standalone item and let me draw my own conclusions

The i3 8145u only has two cores four threads. Or am i mistaken?

Our two cores budget CPU can beat the rival's top end product by 65%.

Intel.....!

If they can find a test were it can cross the finish line first, they technically can.

this is why compartive marketing is bullshit.
