do you already have this or is this a build you are planning?

and what parts are you planning on buying?

skylake is ancient and you shouldnt bother with it unless you get a dirt cheap office tower to slap a gpu in, you can buy a used 3600(x) or for worse used markets a 3100/3300x/3500(x) for ~50$ and a used b3/450 like the tomahawk or equivalent for ~50$ which makes those older gens irrelevant

I already have most of the parts including the cpu, so it’s pointless scrapping my perfectly fine parts and starting over from scratch. I am planning on using the 6500 untill it is ulable to use and btw sry for the late replie.
I an buying the cpu cooler, the case and the second ssd.

Or you could save those double digit dollars and save up for something much faster like the bottom of the barrel 14100F.

Agiven you'll need a new motherboard but in the long term you'll save significantly more money building yourself a strong foundation than keeping alive a system that's begging to be put down

Desktop: Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Kraken X62 Rev 2 - STRIX X470-I - 3600MHz 32GB Kingston Fury - 250GB 970 Evo boot - 2x 500GB 860 Evo - 1TB P3 - 4TB HDD - RX6800 - RMx 750 W 80+ Gold - Manta - Silent Wings Pro 4's enjoyer

SetupZowie XL2740 27.0" 240hz - Roccat Burt Pro Corsair K70 LUX browns - PC38X - Mackie CR5X's

Current build on PCPartPicker

eh 1700 is dead better off with am5 if you want actual futureproofing and the 14100 is just a renamed 12100f still using alderlake afaik

and the 12400 is neck and neck with the 5600x, keep in mind that the 5600x is overclockable and can be found for pretty cheap used alongside its accompanying am4 mobo

can pick up used midranger b3/450 for around 50$ like the tomahawk or equivalent and there are used 3600(x) for 50$ with 5600(x) at ~80$ worst case theres the 3100-3300x-3500(x) for 30-50$ depending on your local used market

if you wanna buy a dead platform do it properly and get the best bang for buck not buying new like a complete moron and ripping yourself off with a 100$ board and 95$ cpu that has the same if not worse performance than cpus from 4 years ago

1700 is only viable with a 12600k(f) and ddr4 cause if you can afford ddr5 you can jump over to am5 with a cheap 7600 (~180-200$) or even an aliexpress 7500f (130$) and get a much better board at the 100-130$ mark like the b650m hdv whilst getting a cpu that draws less power and is straight up faster in singlecore with a platform where you dont need to do a mobo swap or ram swap (if you get hynixes) to upgrade the cpu

I am out of budget so for now the 6500 os the best option for me.
