Intel to use solder TIM on some of their 9th gen cpus

Leak internal slides shows that Intel is going to use solder TIM on some of their 9th gen cpus. The 2 cpus that will get the solder TIM treatment is the Core i9 9900K and Core i7 9700K. No words on whether the Core i5 9600K will get Solder TIM or not. The 9900K will be the very first mainstream i9 CPU for the desktop and will feature 8 cores and 16 threads. Core i7, now a tier lower will not feature HT, putting it similar to a Core i5, except its main advantage, is the extra cores and larger cache. Bases clock and turbo depending on the individual cpus ranges from 3.6 to 3.7GHz and singel core turbo ranges from 4.6 to 5.0GHz. Turbo clock will be lower when more cores are being used at the same time. All of the cpus are officially supported Intel Z390 chipset, although Z370 and current ones may be supported to via a bios update.

5ghz single core. So not 95W or not 5ghz.

You can still get it up to 5 ghz all core manually under decent cooling and yes even at stock speeds it sure is going to be a kick ass CPU.

When der8uer discussed the details of solder, he mentioned you have to choose at the beginning whether a CPU will be soldered or not. So, it was pretty clear they were going to solder the 8 core parts because it's the only way they aren't crippled by heat transfer issues.

The Intel CPUs we have right now already break the TDP, that isn't even worth the paper it is written on...

At least they should offer two values: One base value, one max. Turbo Value...

And _THAT_ is the most interesting point of that: Will those CPUs have anything done against Spectre/Meltdown or not?

The solder interface material isn't fucking new. You used it on all CPU back in the early 2000's bar the cheapest of Celerons.

At the time, they didn't use 3 or 4 different dies for the different segments.

But that is rather common. And nobody really knows how many DIEs Intel uses in the consumer range, all we know is the HEDT, where they use AFAIR 3 DIEs...

If you could buy a 9900K, you can cope with its power consumption. Heat, will be handled better this time around due to the solder and more refined architecture compared to Skylake-X.

My 7820X was the first chip to be patched against those and pretty sure so will be these. There are newer variants of attacks coming out and some are affecting AMD too if you noticed.

So why is it OK if Intel makes a CPU that consumes as much Power as an FX9590 but when AMD does it its not??

I think the last mainstream cpu to be soldered was Ivy Bridge, I could be wrong on that.

Ivy was the Change to normal Paste, the last Consumer CPU was Sandy Bridge...
