I think for the most part, if you find someone trying to be a fanboy, they'll get the hammer hard from the other side of the fence. Sometimes by other fanboys, sometimes by people who don't really care about choosing sides and just want to take the fanboy down a notch.

 

Because it's fun when the fanboy stumbles over.

I got a Ryzen 5 1600 because it was a better deal than the i3-8100 and R5 1400. All of my custom builds have been AMD-based, mostly due to better price/performance. Intel just refuses to fit in my budget...

I'm not neutral but its due to them screwing me, granted I will not discourage the brand as whole but will point out AMD issues with stability when applicable in regards to current products. In essence you get what you pay for.

I'd say pretty even. Most people will suggest AMD if it makes sense for the scenario.

I don't like AMD (even their childish product naming aside), I've had infinitely better luck with Intel. So that's what I stick with. But I'll still suggest AMD if it fits, and I do hope they eventually make a product that I deem better.

absolutely from a pragmatic standpoint AMD is now a better option for budget (g class) and middle (2600)  CPU's. Only really a race for extreme users. (again: form a price performance simple decision)

there's actually good reasons to stick to a company even if the competition has a better product. You don't have to be a crazy fanboy. Warranty and build quality are really important to me. It just doesn't apply to CPU's specifically.

There's definitely some people who lean one way or the other but overall it's relatively neutral.  If anything, I'd say there's actually a bit of a pro-AMD bias on average

This is the first AMD chip I've ever been with and could easily recommend it over wasting cash on an i5 system these days. Last system had a 6700k that went to my girlfriend when her PC started having problems. Had the i7 7700k actually been interesting, I might have went Intel again.

I feel the same way about ASUS motherboards lol. I will only ever use ASUS motherboards. Maybe ASRock as well, depending on use case for said system.

 

I've been an Intel-only guy for a long time now, but I do far less esports and competitive gaming than I used to and I do more work in turn. Therefore I sold my delidded 7700K and Maximus IX Hero to my friend and switched to AMD back in July last year. Everyone freaked out that I was going team red, but honestly I've had no complaints. Games run very well, and the only competitive game I play anymore (PUBG) runs at more than 100 FPS with most settings on ultra, rarely dropping below 80 except in heavy scenes or on the plane. PC runs very well, no errors, no issues (except for bad OCs lol), but then again I always keep my PCs in good shape.

 

The 8 cores are extremely nice to have, especially for workloads that need them and for x264 codec-based streaming. x264 just blows NVENC out of the water so much that I won't ever go back. I tried doing that on my 7700K and it was a mess.

There's like some extremely rare edge cases where the extra memory channels and PCIe lanes help but like why not get the 1920x, or even an older Intel HEDT platform like X99 or even X79. I hope the 1900x isn't selling in high numbers.

Simply put.. i think its generally just AMD is more economic, intel has faster single core speeds.

Like im getting a 1950x, no way im going intel for high core count personally.

I am very interested in what you posted on Tom's that caused you to be banned. You mentioned "Intel's R&D center in that specific country" so my guess is that you made some comments about Israel. Is that correct? Do you by any chance have a link so we can read what you wrote for ourselves? It feels like you're not telling the entire story here.

 

 

 

I'd say this forum is pretty pro-AMD in general.

A lot of people seem to have this (wrong) notion that AMD always has better price:performance and default to recommending them, like in this thread.

In reality though, it highly depends on which programs you use, but people don't like thinking that much. A tips is to always mention which programs you are going to use, and what the local prices are. If someone recommends one product over another, ask them why and then ask for sources to back their claims up.

They need the forum software we use, honestly. Such a breeze.

 

Other than the devs, it's pretty good.

I have to say, this is one nice forum.  Wish other forums would use the same software as well.
