  1. Door strike? Check. REX? Check. Door contact? Check. Card reader? Check.

Wiring diagrams for the headend? .....Leave that to the technicians. Check.

  2. My heart goes out to Tyler's family, everyone at LMG, and everyone hurt or impacted by the passing. This year has been incredibly rough, there are no words to explain just how hard it has been. I can only hope that we all find peace in knowing that it's times like this where a community needs to come together to support not just Tyler's family, but each other. Sleep in paradise, Tyler.
  3. I have appeared from the abyss to tell you that the new 3000 series video cards do not arrive on the day of launch, most if not all stores have the video cards sent to stores at least 3-5 days before the launch if not earlier. Your luck in getting the video card relies on you showing up in line at the store on launch day to inquire and possibly make a purchase.

If the store offered pre-orders, stock may be limited to 1-2 videocards per store, save for the pre-orders.

Source: Used to work logistics - Y'all need to wait a few months for the hype to die down and read reviews before jumping on purchases!!!1!!111one!!!!!!11!!11!eleven

You mean my 2080Ti won't turn into a turd at 12:01am?!?!?!

  4. Basically anywhere. It's on a first come first serve basis as most places get their stock 3-5 days or more before the release of it.
  5. The fact that I had to tell an incompetent tech how to splice fibre and I’m not even trained should tell you a lot about the service industry and lack of willingness to train and certify people.

    we need to do better.

  6. I am leaving this post here just so you know I still exist, just arbitrarily because I'm almost never here. HELLOOOO!

  7. Did you try contacting them and seeing if they have a means to assist with shipping? Could you arrange to rent a P.O. Box and have items shipped to that P.O. Box and forwarded to where you live? There are many ways to get around it.
  8. USB 3.1 has a completely different header than USB 3.0, your motherboard will need to have the header in order for you to connect it, primarily due to speed constraints.
  9. If you plan on upgrading the power supply, look for a 24 pin to 8 pin adapter for your motherboard. I have a Dell Precision T3620 and ordered the adapter in the event I want to upgrade the power supply and throw in a better GPU. 1650 should be your best bet imho.
  10. 3200 is great, but 3600 is the sweet spot. Any higher and I believe infinity fabric will have an issue with it.
  11. Took my dead ram to the shooting range and shot it with a few .50 Cal’s. It kept giving me memory management blue screens and I figured it was time to really explain how I felt.
  12. Been a while. Hope you're all doing well!

@Den-Fi It most certainly has! Work has been keeping me super busy. I've been building and deploying servers for the most part, but I wouldn't trade this job for anything else :D

Dude you were gone so long they made me a mod!

      What Year Is It?

    4. Hiitchy

@TVwazhere Hahahaha! Congratulations!!! I have been gone for quite some time haven't I?

  13. I sometimes want to murder my clients. Who's bright idea was it to suggest BNC security cameras routed to an IP video encoder and then BACK OUT TO BNC THROUGH ANOTHER ENCODER....

UGH. They're going to hear it from me tomorrow. Smh.

  14. I dont usually like hummus, but God damn hummus is great thanks

  15. Got my Cisco Catalyst 3850 switch with 48 SFP+ ports. Now the real fun begins. :)

I did see that in the googling so it's a modular system. Not very dense though. To get 48 this is going to take up more than 1U isn't it?

    3. Hiitchy

@Windows7ge It's about 2U, and there are going to be 3 as this is what the client wants. Wish I could change their mind because they're going with the wrong system but what do I know /o\

Half your job as a technician is talking customers out of costly & complicated ways of getting something done. I know we do that here on the forum every day.
