What are your most unpopular tech opinions?

roundtopsam

I've seen this discussion floating around about music on Facebook, and it has me wondering if anyone on here is willing to air their grievances in the name of a solid discussion, and not just to crap on each other haha.  To get the ball rolling:

  • RGB lighting frustrates me because there are too many color options.  Not unlike having a flash cart with every NES game, I simply can't commit.
  • I don't understand why anyone needs a 4K display

And begin!

Possibly my most unpopular tech opinion would be the code I stand by:

"F*ck Surfaces. Just f*ck 'em."

Still trying to remember the main reason I hate them so much, though. Something to do with Microsoft.

Wanting to get a MBP 13" seems to get me some shit because my reasoning is that I hate Windows and I want a break from it, and Linux just infuriates me to no end half the time. :/

I personally would never even consider an AMD CPU for even a second. Possibly graphics, never CPU. Intel's where it's at, there's a reason they dominate the market. Having only seen reviews of their components, most of them not too good, I just don't trust AMD's reliability. Having never worked with their parts myself definitely limits my position to call it fact, though.

It certainly limits you indeed.  I've had wonderful experiences over in AMD land, but they were Athlon XP's ago.  Not being a consumer of the highest end products, they definitely have my attention with Ryzen.

People need to stop shoving their use cases and needs across the board, thinking that everyone uses and needs a computer in the same way they do.

Is that unpopular?  I couldn't agree more!

Here are my bits

  • Intel i5's need to die or change and for the love of all that is enthusiast don't waste your money on any current gen i5, especially unlocked ones - a 1400 is better than a locked i5 and a 1600 kicks any i5's teeth in
  • RGB is awesome and I want it
  • If you want to do a custom loop get the best tech you can over having custom cooling

Oh yeah, DON'T GET AN i5

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Firefox is superior than Chrome.

Logitech G502 is extremely overrated.

But I love my G502...  lol

The only thing I hate about it is for some reason it won't respond to being moved unless it basically pressed up against a flat surface.  If there's even a tiny gap between my G502 and whatever surface it's on the thing is a useless paperweight.

Only mouse I've used in recent years that I know has this problem.

Another one to add to the table: Numbers don't really matter unless it really applies to you.

I'm sure that 10 ms difference in that JavaScript benchmark or that higher Cinebench score makes a world of difference for me.
