Hey, I plan on buying my first Gaming PC and, I want something good, if not I may aswell just get a PS4.

I want to game in 1440p and have a system that lasts me a long time (4 maybe 5 years hopefuly).

So I'm spending alot on this computer, around 1800€ which will be the most money I've ever spent on 1 thing. (I'm 18)

How much was your first computer ? (With screen and peripherals)

Do you think it's rational or fine for someone to save up and spend alot of money on their computer ?

Thoughts and opinions let's go

The first 5 computers I had were free. Maybe a couple parts here and there I paid for. I would get parts as hand-me downs etc from friends.

$600 at once was the most I spent until I was about your age, Since then It's been 5k + on current stuff.

I think its perfectly fine. But just like everything else in life, make sure you balance out buying a pc vs saving for college/car/savings/girlfriend/food/clothes/rent. Everyone has their hobbies, some people spend thousands on cars, some thousands on music equipment, some thousands on photography. Most of my hobbies (and my job) are based around computers and technology, so, by having a great computer I kill a bunch of birds with one stone.

Thankyou everyone for the answers.

I plan on opening a savings account to slowly but surely put money to one side to get my computer, the priority is rent and food. College here in France is just about completely funded by the goverment and I get a big rent rebate. Plus I got highest honors on my exams so the state, in september will start giving me 200€ a month along with the 470€ for food, rent and general living. But the 200€ is going in the bank. My friends have bought computers and the max one has payed is 1000€ they say that it's stupid of me to go for something so expensive but I live on my computer and I love gaming, so I want the best conditions. I'm only dependent on time to get the money needed

How do you people know what to put here ?

Is that for the computer in your profile ? Because I plan on getting nearly identical parts with a Corsair K70 a Logitech G502 and a 1440p 400€ monitor.

Yep!

I bought my PC without peripherals because I already had a KB+M and monitor from my prebuilt (yes, I know...).

My first and current custom build cost €954, but I have made the necessary upgrades over time (new CPU cooler, R9 290, extra monitor, new mouse) :D

New to Star Citizen? Look no further!

My first real gaming PC (if you don't count the shit prebuilt with a GTX 210 I had before it as one) cost 36000 NOK which is about 6000 USD.

Personally I think it's perfectly reasonable to purchase expensive stuff with money you have saved up, but that might just be me...

I'm building my first pc right now, and it's about $1600...this is the most money I've spent on one thing too, and I'm 16. And for your question "is it rational", I'm not entirely sure myself lol. I feel excited for all of my parts to come but I also feel like I might have spent too much..
