What was your first computer?

xserd

Amiga 500 with 512 kb extra memory bumping it up to a megabyte of memory! Technically an Amiga 1000. Now I have 32768 times that in my computer, hmmm..

That was mine, but my father had some random computer with green text screen way back in 88, I wrote "game" with basic on it.

I also have some 8088 PC from 1988. I think it was IBM. A few years later, I bought a Model M to go with it. I still have the Model M, not the PC. Still salvaged the 8088.

I still have my first computer, first time I opened a computer case was when I was 6 (my dad fixed computers since they came out) so he always bring home computers and I would watch him fix them and I learned that way.... I can't tell you the model, but I still keep the case from memories.

Cool. I've been wanting a 5150/5160 for quite some time. They're starting to get more expensive now too...

I have yet to "own" a PC. 15 years old and I have never had a computer to my name :( always using other peoples.

My first PC is my current PC, i'm 16 years old and im turning 17, all the other computers i've used were family or school lenders computers.

So I can put anything here?

I don't know the model number exactly but it was a dell dimensions pc from '04. I was using another PC prior to this on but this was the first one my family actually bought. (the one I was using prior was my aunt's and I have no idea what it was, i was like 4.)

  • 2 weeks later...

So I finished my first build today and as soon as windows 8.1 was installed my wifi started acting up (on all devices in our house, I know it's not related). Really bummed out that I don't have too much I can do with her right now. I'm downloading Bioshock infinite in 5 minute bursts. I did a benchmark on Unigine Valley. Got a 3014 without any overclocking. She's a beautiful White Enthoo Primo. Called her STORMTROOPER

I'm just wondering what memories you guys have from your first builds.

I'll probably open a build log once I've taken a couple more nice pics of her.

I remember when I first built my PC, I thought I had the worst cable management on earth. Now it's semi-decent :P

I have upgraded 90% of my first build...

I can almost build a second rig with all the old parts I have lying around...

I should get around to selling them, but I fear something will fail and I will need a replacement handy...

My first build was when I was about 10. It was out of old parts that my dad already had and he had taught me how to put it together and it was really just for practice. So it was an easy good experience. I imagine it would be a bit stressful to build your first PC by yourself and having spent your money on it.
