My first self built rig was in 2001:

Pentium 3 700MHz

Abit SE6 motherboard

IBM Deskstar 40GB HDD (overkill at the time)

Creative Labs 12x DVD-ROM and DXR2 MPEG2 decoder card

SoundBlaster Live soundcard

nVidia GeForce 2 GTS (epic GFX card)

RAM was probably 128MB, can't really remember

Monitor was a Philips CRT that at the time had a very slimline shape that swept in around the back

Case was probably something generic

If i remember correctly

Abit NV8 socket 754

AMD Athlon 64 3200+

Zalman CNPS9000

Kingston 2x512mb ram

MSI NX6800 Ultra 256 mb (later upgraded to an asus 7900GTX 512MB

100HB HDD

Thermaltake armor case

Good times with that pc, tons of lans and tons of wins in css :D

Let's agree to disagree

I don't remember all the details.

CPU: Intel 8088  8MHz

RAM: 512KB

HDD: Seagate 30 MB

PSU: 200 W

Video card:  IBM Hercules

Display: TTL 80 x 25 Characters,  Could not have any graphics with it other than characters.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

First rig... good grief...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+

2GB Mushkin DDR2

Stock 300W PSU

Stock fans, cooler, had a nice grid power button. That was what I used for the longest time, and I ran it on Ubuntu for about 3 years. Then I built my rig I have now and gave the old one to my brother. Dad bought him a 5450 so he could play minecraft on it. He never uses it because our 2009 iMac is still better at playing Minecraft.

That said my current rig is still by far and away the most powerful we have at home (because it runs 16GB and has a 7870)

My first rig consisted of:

Intel Core i3 2120 (Upgraded to an i7 down the line)

Gigabyte H61M S2PV Motherboard

Gigabyte GTX 650

WD Blue 500GB Hard Drive

The only part that I have from that is the Hard Drive and I'm currently using it as a drive to store most of my games

Life.exe is missing

My very PC I put together was a Frankensteins monster kind of thing. I can't remember the parts very well because it was so long ago.

Back in 2003 or so I was like 14

Specs

Case: HP Pavillion 8750

CPU was an intel

had 80 gigs of Hard drive space

256mb of RAM

Found the cd rom drive in the garage of my parents house

Found a Nvidia GPU in the same place

It already had the motherboard in it.

The awesome thing I played the very first COD on it for about 5 minutes and then it exploded. That freaked me out, because it popped and the computer never worked again...I was like "First computer ever!!" and then sad instantly.

I was smarter on my second build, just because I was older and less dumb.
