I actually prefer the look of Acros II. (sorry I only had the half monochromed shot lol)

Well taken, but I feel the edges of the box are blurry, as if there was camera shake.

Taken this morning with my Canon 6D Mk.II out in PA. ISO 200, F/10, 1/160.

Nice side of the road landscape. The only things I could think to improve it is maybe compensate the exposure for the highlights a bit more since you seem to be clipping the clouds on the left side of the frame; and perhaps bring up the shadows a bit more for the land in the shot.

Here's a vintage computer still life I did. Lens is the FA* 85 1.4 and the camera is the Pentax KP. Bounced a flash off the wall to the left and filled in the right side with a bit of aluminum foil. Terminal is the Wyse wy-60 with the included keyboard.

It seems like you under exposed this a bit. You have a bit more latitude in the highlights to work with there where you could tone them down and be good. You also for sure can bring up the shadows in post to get more detail in the distant landscape. With digital it can be a balancing act but typically shadow detail is very well preserved even when it looks like you crushed it, it's where all the dynamic range is.

Here is an example I quickly did in lightroom (will be a lot better with the raw file).

You can see there's a lot of nice detail you're missing in that distant landscape. Little houses and lots of nice trees.

Thx for the feed back. Yah this was unedited I knew I had some range to work with I just hadn't gotten to it yet. And as for raw unfortunately I don't think I shot this in raw bc I only had one card for my whole trip and no way to dump. But its nice to know I still have room to work with for these photos.

Sometimes, you just don’t have time to dial your settings to perfection. The subject is in focus and not super blurry, which takes priority, so you definitely nailed it. 8/10.

Sorry, I don't have a pic right now. I rate this an 9/10. 9 because there are out of focus twigs right near the centre(before the bird) which I kinda don't like. Wouldn't mind if they're away from the subject/centre. Great photo overall.

This is the twig I'm talking about:

It's such a cop out answer because you could say that about basically anything, and it doesn't address the actual complaints. People use it as some kind of card they pull when they can't actually respond to the criticism raised but they still feel like they need to defend some company/person. If you don't like this thread then stop reading it. See how stupid it is? It's basically like telling someone "shut the fuck up". I would assume it is out of the focal plane that is on the bird, thus the twig is blurry.

@The Blackhat

As always, nicely done, lighting is even and the details are well defined.

Here is my entry for possibly the oldest camera in use here.

(WARNING: Long-winded technical discussion ahead! TL;DR version: Not bad for a ~20 year old camera, proving once again it's not about the camera.)

These were shot with a free dSLR camera.
Not just any free dSLR, but a ragged out Canon dSLR. And not just any ragged out dSLR, but a circa 2003 Canon Digital Rebel XT (back when adding "Digital" helped to differentiate it from the film bodies I guess)
I bought a Tokina EF Mount 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens from Japan (more on that in a moment) for pennies, a battery grip (genuine Canon no less) for also pennies, and went to town.

The camera is an 8 Megapixel crop body (1.6x, making the lens a 160mm Macro) with an ISO range from 100 to 1600, a 1.8 inch, 115k pixel LCD screen, which is so primitive it might as well not be there, and some seriously limited menu options.

So crap right?
Well, not so much. Yes the controls, options and ergonomics are crap compared to modern dSLRs, but that can be worked around. What matters is the image quality. Well, take a look at the above images. No post work (I never do anyway, but I expected to on images from a camera this old). The image is clear, the lighting falloff is even (no "halo" effects or banding), and more importantly,at least at ISO 100, the noise is very well controlled. All the things that are critical when reviewing and deciding upon purchasing a dSLR.

So is this going to replace my Nikon D3x? No, of course not, I'm too invested in Nikon glass, and of course the muscle memory for the controls, but what this little Canon shows, is for the purposes of toy photography at least, it's perfectly adequate, good even.

Are there drawbacks? At least one big one and several small ones:
The big one is that LCD screen. It's so primitive that you might as well shoot blind. Now this can be a good thing, or a bad thing, depending on your POV.
For me, it was simply a challenge. Can I set the lighting up on Butterball up there, and nail the settings the first time around, because I couldn't rely on the LCD screen to give me an accurate representation of what I had just shot, and get what I had envisioned in my mind?

The answer was yes, for as primitive as the LCD screen is, the output from the camera was exactly as I had planned.
But then again I have extensive experience in the photography field, so the lack of a useful LCD screen was not an issue for me.

For a beginner it might be frustrating. But either way you look at a camera this old, it's a great learning experience to not have to rely on the camera's "perks" an instead rely on your own skills. I come from the old-school film days, where mistakes cost you money, so you learned to get it right the first time...

Some of the other minor drawbacks:
The controls are...arcane, even for Canon standards who have changed major control layouts at least 3 times in their dSLR lines. It interrupts my thoughts and concentration to have to fiddle with the controls, but as I've mentioned before, I'm heavily invested in the Nikon Way and re-training my muscle memory for the camera controls isn't going to happen any time soon.

Other drawback? There are only 7 auto-focus points, so there will be some thinking involved on where you want the focal point to be, and probably some readjustment of the tripod.
A personal drawback for me is that even with a battery grip and an all-metal Macro lens, the camera is too light for my tastes, but on a sturdy tripod, it's less of an issue.

As to the lens, I got it from Japan, off eBay. I had heard that you should stay away from camera bodies and lenses listed in Japan, and I can see why. This lens was listed in A++ mint condition, and it was far from it. A stateside camera reseller would list it in C condition. Yeah, it works, but it was far far far from mint.

So, to conclude this long-winded essay (finally, right?) if you've ever wanted to get into toy photography with something more than a cell phone, but were hesitant to drop serious money on a dSLR kit, look into a ~20 year old dSLR, it'll serve you well.
