Random PC Crash, Need Help

GreenGDK

(The build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/XVwV89)

For some reason the pc is crashing completely out of the blue. It's been happening for about a year now, but has gotten a lot worse today after I updated my bios, from version 1404 (2018) to the newest 3202 (2021). I have then also installed a new Samsung 990 Pro in the system where i took out my graphics card to put it in.

After these changes the crashing has gotten a lot worse and there doesn't seem to be any corelation with it, because it crashes while playing games and whenever I'm just on google or the desktop doing nothing. I checked the windows event log to see if it said anything and it came with some er errors:

  • Fails: 6008, 7023, 1796
  • Warnings: 10016
  • Critical: 41

Hard to say, you have to be able to isolate the issue first. You need to look into the ways of stability testing your PC with software like CPU-Z, Cinebench, OCCT, Memtest86,... You need to see if it happens under CPU intensive scenarios, if it happens when you stress the RAMs and so on.

Usually the most common cause of crashes out of the blue are either software issues icluding maleware. bloatware( hardware utility software included),... or poor CPU voltage management. If you stress test your rig with something like Cinebench and saw that it does the bluescreen/freeze/crash, then go into your Bios and lower your core voltage to something sensible for your CPU and see if it goes away. If that didn't seem to be causing the issue then you might need a clean and fresh start with your OS to see how it goes. These are the things I can think of right now, but doubt anyone can help you much beyond this without access to your hardware.

I used to have BSOD when I build my first rig last year

All components are brand new, and freshly installed Windows 11

After do the disk check via Command Prompt, it fix my random BSOD issue

This may not be silver bullet to fix all BSOD problem, but it's worth a shot

It takes around 25 minutes to do the checking and auto fixing, so better do it when you're not in need of using your PC

Step 1: open Command Prompt, must "Run as Administrator"

Step 2: Put in this line as below:

chkdsk /f /r /x c:

*assuming your OS is on drive "C", if you set on the other name, you can change the line accordingly

Step 3: If you're opening the Command Prompt while having something on the background, sometimes it will inform that it couldn't do the disk check now, and ask if you wanna do it the first thing after restart, input "Y"

Step 4: Restart and wait till it automatically done
